Call up Bing. They are surprisingly fast. Their reps aren't always on the ball, but they are nice enough and will try their best :)

Thanks Nathaniell! I actually just used their live chat feature and they helped me out :)

Hey Wendy:
Carson about summed it up.

You know, I might suggest you have several cards. Each card for a specific aspect within your business(es). It is easier to track & won't shoot you down if one of the cards gets out of control (I'm coming from experience here, Wendy.). Personally, I do not like to use cards with an unlimited access; more like a secured card that has a set monthly amount within said card (i.e. via an isolated "savings account" assigned to each card.) Perhaps it creates a larger spider web fer ya, yet it WILL develop excellent book-keeping discipline. 2 or 3 cards works well. And keep all your dated records as hard copy -in a handwritten / hand entered ledger binder. That way when you iz make'N loads of money & the tax man or woman (they are the mean ones!) happen to knock on yer door, you can walk em back into yer office & point to the dated binders & tell em to park it on the floor in front of your desk. You just sit at your desk & keep with the income thing while they sit before you & huff-N-puff.

Thank you for the advice, Jim. I try to keep good records of all my business expenses!

Roger that, Wendy.

Hey Wendy, you would have to contact bing to get the official word on what's going on with your specific truncation. Depositing money from a bank account usually takes longer than an hour to process. I wouldn't be too worried, I'm sure that Bing will get the funds into your account ASAP so that you can start running your ads.

I imagine that the deposit time would depend on your bank, your location, the time of day etc.

Bing has pretty good support if you want to get in touch with them. They have live chat too which I find quite helpful from time to time.

Carson

Thank you Carson. I didn't realize they had the live chat feature so thanks for the heads up! :)

Hi Wendy,

This could be related to something called Sender Policy Framework(SPF).

Basically SPF is a way of reducing spam. There are a lot of spammers who will spoof the "from" address when they send their spam.

Some email providers will see the emails coming from the aweber mail servers and see that the "from" addess is wendy@example.com where example.com is your domain. This will lead those servers to think that it's spam.

SPF allows you to alert receiving mail servers that any email they receive with a "from" address of @example.com and coming from an aweber mail server is authorized by your domain and not spam.

This is accomplished by placing a DNS record. If you are hosting through wealthy affiliate's hosting you would most likely have to contact them and see if they can make your SPF dns record for aweber.

Here's a link from aweber's site:

https://help.aweber.com/entries/21761628-Does-AWeber-Use-SPF-Authentication-

Feel free to reply or PM if you have further questions.

Thanks thomas, that is quite helpful. Would I need to do this by sending in a support ticket?

Yeah, just submit a support ticket.

Wow I didn't know that ... thanks for the info!!

Emails that I've been following for months, and always read, sometimes end up in my spam folder. Both in yahoo and Gmail.

When I worked for a company that sent out a lot of weekly emails, if enough people marked them as spam, Google automatically assumed they were spam and started moving them to the spam folder. Weird.

I typically scour my spam folders every few days to make sure nothing legitimate has slipped by. A lot of people are lazy and instead of unsubscribing to something they actually wanted to read at one time, they'll just mark it as spam to keep it out of their inbox.

I'm not too familiar with AWeber's services. (email list, scheduled reminder stuff?) Would you be able to use maybe another service (getresponse, constant contact, vertical response) to confirm the addresses, then move them to AWeber? Maybe too much work.

Gmail has that 'Promotions' tab, maybe people aren't checking.

Yeah I have noticed the same thing! I do find myself checking through spam everyday just to make sure I don't miss legit stuff (because at least once a day something legit does land in spam)! It's pretty annoying.

Hmm I think it'd be far too much work to sign them up with another service and then move.. actually I don't even know if that would be possible?

Anyway I think I have found a solution for now. Thanks for the response!

Hey Wendy Jane:

So way glad to see much sign-up is going on with ya. Might ask you to hold my hand here in a couple more weeks (to mentor me, purely platonic -kay?).

Wendy, I’d want to investigate all of my auto-responder’s in & outs. Send the corp. an e-mail & ask em direct. Get your intel straight from the horses mouth, so to speak. Search out a pdf for the aweber autoresponder’s ins & outs. In anyway, I’d contact em direct with all the details questioned in order detail whereby they could simply send you the info or answer your Qs and return it to sender -you.

Step one.
Step two, contact Google and ask em what the xxxx is going on!

Step three, is it possible that Aweber has a slight attachment on the tail of the URL? That tells Google -WARNING WARNING- this is autoresponder stuff?

Next full moon is August 10th. Ah Oooooo!
C ya

Hey Jim it's great to hear from you. No problem if you need a hand just let me know :)

Thanks for the advice, I'll have to investigate further to see what is going on with this!

Hey Wendy:

Yea -I use the Yahoo for contacts via this WA site. And yes, I do have to look in the spam so to be sure I miss nothing. And guess what -It was in the spam file that I found this / your response!

I believe that this all needs to be investigated deeply, not just with the google scene. Autoresponders are targeted.
Guess it could be like we've 2 "inboxes" now-a-days, one being called the spam inbox. You know, if I were you with the possible sales being lost, I'd modify my site stipulating that todays' internet business people have to work it as with 2 inboxes, the "spam" being the now-a-day engrafted "inbox". Kind-of like the ObamaCare junk. One just has to adjust or loose out.

Rock on

I also have a large number of people that do not confirm. I'm not sure how to fix it, other than to remind people to check their spam folder if they don't receive the email confirmation within a few minutes.

Yeah, I was thinking of that but at which point do you remind them to check their spam? Do you write a message right under the opt in form, or edit the message they get after they enter their name and email ? I was trying to figure out how to edit that page but couldn't figure it out!

If you have double opt-in, you can remind them in the email confirmation. If the problem is that the confirmation is going to spam, you can add a footer on your form (I think some forms allow this) with a reminder.

Personally, I don't use the "sign up" thing in the sidebar anymore because I found it wasn't getting many submissions (compared to total views) anyway. What you can do is put an IMAGE in the sidebar that has a good CTA or that looks like an opt-in form, then take them to a page on your site with the actual opt-in form and spam reminder.

I have found that I get a lot more legit sign ups if I tell them exactly what the course will cover, and what they can expect to see. Plus, gmail users may have some of the course going to their promotion tab, so it allows me to remind them about this too.

Yeah the problem is that the initial confirmation is going to spam. And yeah, I find the opt-in rate is much higher on my about me page form rather than the one within the sidebar (compared to views)... so I can see directing them to a different page that outlines everything clearly would make a big difference in legit sign ups... thanks for the info! I think I'll try that. :)

Whitelist the aweber email address. In gmail, mark aweber responses as "starred" or "important" . Then they will not land in your spam folder
John

Thanks for the response. I understand what you're saying to do, but that would only solve the problem for the particular email address I have chosen to whitelist it for. I cannot whitelist my aweber email address for everyone who signs up for my list.

I don't have aweber, but gmail should recognize that it's forwarded. Wonder how other people deal with that.......maybe have an email address just for that.

I've been working with this theme "Genesis" and just figured out how to add a custom logo in the header section.. However, when I insert a custom header logo, it displays right

Hmm Genesis huh. I have strongly been considering purchasing this framework. How are you finding it? Much better than a free template? Also did you purchase a child template or are you just running genesis over genesis?

I purchased a child template that is good for one of my websites, but I found the original Genesis template to be better suited for another website I have - so I have the child theme running on one site, and original Genesis running on the other.

I like it...it's nice, clean and simple. I like that it let's you include an "about the author" sidebar box. Other than that I wouldn't say it's a whole lot different than any free theme I've used. If anything, some of the customization is more of a pain in the butt - like this custom header thing .. I ended up figuring it out but it required me editing the style.css sheet.

I don't think it will. Kyle did a training on replacing the theme logo and adding your own. Let me know if this helps.

Yeah, Thanks Eva. I've done it one other themes easily but the particular them I am using doesn't work like most other themes. I have since figured this out, but thank you for the help!

I think it's fine because you are not trying to rank for your title. There's probably an easy code for it as well, so it might be worth asking in a genesis forum or getting someone on odesk.

Thanks Nathaniell... that's what I was thinking.. but I wasn't sure. I've scoured the Genesis forum looking for answers before posting this, but couldn't find anything.. so maybe I will ask over there as well.

I have done it but as to whether it affects SEO I don't know. Would like to find out.

Nathaniell and Jay work quite a bit with Genesis I think. May be worth a PM to them if they don't see this post. I use Genesis, too, but have never figured this part out on the 11-40 theme.

Thanks Rick!

Hey Rick, just wanted to let you know I figured it out with this tutorial:

http://www.carriedils.com/add-logo-genesis-theme/

If you're interested maybe you can make it work with your Genesis child theme too.

Thanks Wendyjane. Will check it out.

I am not sure but I think it is under header below the pictures just before save or update --it reads check box to remove the text or maybe the theme header ---I think you first remove it then come back and add yours --this a shot in the dark---

yeah I know what you are referring to.. unfortunately that is not an option with the theme I'm trying to use!

sorry ---what is the url --I will look at it ---if you like?

To modify the WP template is very very hard to do. You have to pick one that allows editing to the "section" you are targeting. I too struggled with modifying a template Logo section and failed badly. I am skilled in HTML code and still could not get the "look" I was going for and after consult with the WP guru's here I learned that it is wasted of time to try and make it happen. I found that writing and learning marketing techniques out weigh a "look" of a website. Truth be told when a person (from an search engine) lands on your page as long as the type isn't too small or bright they will read what you have written. Best of luck to you and I hope this helps -

Well I am not modifying the HTML code at all. I can get the "look" I want if I remove the website title from the sidebar settings... just wasn't sure if that would be okay.

I am curious about the 12% or 1 in 8 premium conversion rate statistic that is provided on the program stats page... is this number based on ALL referrals, or referrals that act

I know this post is a bit old but I just found it and have been wondering the same thing. I find of total referrals I get 4-5% and of the credits (filled out profile) I get 12%. just wondering if that's normal.

It's based on the total number of referrals, even the ones that don't complete their account set up. Your numbers are normal especially if you haven't been doing it for very long. I found in time after I developed a very larger pool of referrals my upgrade rate increased significantly to well above the average 12%. Keep at it!

ok thanks! good to hear!

Is this because old referrals come back later and at to the upgrade %?

You could also try capturing leads with a squeeze page and following with your subscribers to see if this increases conversions.

based on the total I am sure, and at 5% you are still doing good!

Yeah... hopefully in time I can raise it a bit!

Hi Wendy - yeah, unfortunately a lot of people walk around, and kick the tyres, say they'll be back with their cheque book, and you never see them again.

To be honest, it's probably a good thing that happens. The people that want to be here, will stay. Those that are just kicking the tyres, could end up taking up so much of your time, looking for you to justify why they should sign-up, and you know that they just aren't genuinely interested.

I've helped a huge number of people with a program I offer (not inside WA), and invested a LOT of time in helping them get setup, for them to just walk away. Sometimes the investment is worth it, but more often than not - if they don't "get it" they will never "get it". I'm sure the people who sign-up, but don't go on to complete their profile etc - just don't get it, or aren't genuinely interested - and you maybe shouldn't spend time chasing them to try and persuade them (if indeed you do).

All the best, Mark

No no, I'm not wasting time chasing those that aren't interested. I realize there is only so much you can do and then there comes a point at which you're just being pushy and it can become a major turn off. I know, the ones that are truly interested will sign up!

I've asked Kyle this before and I'm pretty sure he said that it was of TOTAL referrals. Don't quote me on that though

12 percent of referrals more or less become premium members. Word-for-word from the stats page,

"Conversion Rate
1 in 8
Over 12% of
People go Premium"

I am not positive, but I have to agree with steveo5770 it almost has to be out of the people who fill out their profile

I'm sure it must be based on the number of people who take the time to set up their profile. Like you, the majority who accept my invitations don't bother.
