Heather Russell Can I Have This Dance

Not sure if we are allowed to share YouTube video's through our blogs. So if this is a nono, please forgive me.

This is my beautiful niece Heather Nicole Russell. She is the only daughter to my only sister.

Heather passed away this last February, at the age of 33 years old. She left behind a beautiful little girl, Annie Sue.

Heather had liver failure. Through all of her illness, she was kind and had a sweet attitude and spirit. She was a fighter till the end.

I love her still and miss her greatly. This is a video that Heather and a friend of hers made for Annie. Heather is singing both parts in the song. Her voice is beautiful and I wanted to share this with you all.

Thanks for listening to a proud Aunt Wendi.

All the best.

Update: The youtube video didn't go through. If you would like to listen, go to youtube and type Heather Russell Can I Have This Dance. It's a beautiful song. I'd love to hear what you think.

New Update: I've added the link to Heather's Youtube Video, thanks to Alex Evans.

Thank you Alex!

Thanks,

Wendi

Wendi,

I am so sorry for your loss. They are both beautiful. Enjoy every moment with your niece and let her know that her mommy loved her then, loves her now, and will always love her (whether her physical body is next to her or not). Much success,

George

George, thank you so much for your kind words. I really do appreciate that and I will share your words with our little Annie Sue.
All the best,
Wendi

Hey Wendi, I understand what you are going through, I lost my sister a month after you lost your beautiful sister. It is not easy especially because both your sister and mine were around the same age. Your sister sings like an angle. I'm so sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you and your family.

Thanks so much. I am so sorry for your loss, also. My prayers are with you and your family.
All the best,
Wendi

Thanks so much.

Wendi, sounds like there is a singing angel now watching over you. This is a terrible loss but she is alive in your heart. No doubt you see her in Annie Sue as well. Thank you for sharing this. Colette and Philip

Thanks so much. Yes, Annie reminds us of Heather all of the time. She is a beautiful and happy little lady, just like her Mommy was. Thanks for your kindness.
All the best,
Wendi

I am terribly sorry for your loss but from the picture, she was a beautiful young lady and her daughter is also cute. But always remember that your niece is in your heart and you have memories of you that no one can take away from you.

She knew that you loved her and she knew that you would miss her terribly but you will never forget her because like I said she is in your heart.

So true. Thanks for your kind words.
All the best,
Wendi

You are so very welcome and best wishes to you too

Heather, Annie Sue, and of course the song are all beautiful. She was very talented. Such a moving tribute to your sister. So sorry for your loss, Wendi.
Carol

You're so welcome. Heather had a beautiful voice, and her recordings are a treasure for you to keep her memory alive.

Music has such a powerful effect on me. I lost my mother a year ago in February. We used to sing our way across the country between Iowa, Georgia, and North Carolina. My sister and I shared responsibility for caring for her when she developed dementia. She was almost 98 when she died, and we couldn't wish her back, but some things are still difficult. The hymns she always sang doing her housework can still make me cry.

Oh Carol. What a beautiful thing memories are. I love the mental image of you and your mom singing as you drove across the country! It just makes me happy. :)
I sing every time I get in the car. I don't know why. I just can't help it.
I love all kinds of music. I really don't have a favorite genre. But Heather's singing was my favorite. I used to tell her she could harmonize with any noise she heard. My boys used to change the radio channel just to try to throw us off. We'd know the next song and just laugh and keep right on singing. Drove the boys bonkers! Of course, we always thought it was hilarious. Heather was fluent in Spanish, so even with the Spanish stations she'd keep right on singing. LOL What great memories.

I just love to sing, too. My sister and I enjoy harmonizing when we sing to the oldies on the radio. (in the car, of course!) She sings a lovely high tenor that I don't know how to do. I either sing the melody or alto.

I like a lot of different kinds of music, but am not too keen on country/western. I like some songs and some artists, but don't like the ones who sound like they're singing through their noses or whining. My favorite is pop music from the 50s and 60s, of course, because that's what was on the radio when I was a kid. Still love that old time rock 'n' roll!

I sing in the community chorus here. It was started to keep classical music alive here in the mountains, and since the original classical music was written for the church, we usually sing a mass in Latin for our first number. The music is gorgeous, even if we don't know what we're singing! Then more "fun" stuff is later in the concert. We sing 2 concerts a year...spring and Christmas.

We just had our spring concert May 6th and are on break til September 3rd, when we'll start rehearsals for our Christmas concert. Our director knows the composer of the mass we sang this year, and she invited him to our concert. He was unable to attend, but requested that it be recorded and put on Utube so he could hear it. That was exciting.

Better get to work. Need to try to get some weed eating done before it starts raining again. We're supposed to have thunderstorms this afternoon.

Take care, and have a great week.

Carol
