I have just read a survey where over 200 ultra-successful people revealed their number one secret to productivity and the results were as follows:

#1They focus on minutes not hours

#2They focus on only one thing

#3They dont use to-do lists

#4They beat procrastication with time travel

#5They make it home for dinner

#6They use a notebook

#7They process e-mails only a few times a day

#8They avoid meetings where ever they can

#9The say "no" to almost everything

#10They follow they 80/20 rule

#11They delegate almost everything

#12They touch things only once

#13They practice a consistant morning routine

Its seems like a strange list to me...No do-to-lists, no meetings, but then I like the focus on only one thing...using a notebook...and the practice of morning routine.

What are your thoughts

I don't write a todo list, but a weekly goal list and I find that it keeps me on track. I did not have a list last week, but I still got things done and new articles published.
No meetings, yes, that makes perfect sense. Most meetings are time wasters where people just want to be heard but have usually nothing valuable to say. I avoid meetings whenever I can, unless I have to be in one, because my boss is expecting me there ... Then I can't wriggle out of it.
Saying no to almost everything also makes sense.

The no To-Do-List would not work for me. When I write something down, it is then out of my head. Maybe they call it something else like Options-List. What else would they put in their notebook? I am reviewing books and find that jotting down notes really helps me when it comes time to write the review. That is what I have in my notebook.

Some of the things seem a little strange, they beat procrastination with time travel... If I could time travel I would not be using it for beating procrastination...
I delegate everything as well, but I still have to do it as I am the only one working here...

Thanks for the post some good ideas there as well...

Best wishes and stay safe.

I like that, Gaz! I delegate things to myself all the time and when people ask me why I don't take more time off, I simply tell them that my boss is an a$$hole! 🙄🙄

Take care, my friend!

Jeff

Thanks for sharing this. I am always wanting to find new ways to be more productive. I agree with you. I don't have unnecessary meetings. The ones I have are vital for me to accomplish the things I need to. Also, I would be less productive if I didn't use lists and prioritize them.

I don't understand #1 or #4. the rest of them I think are good.

I certainly agree on the note book idea. Some of the biggest performers I have worked with have them. I could not tell you why, maybe its about priorites and ideas.

"No" is very under used although having "because" in there helps with rapport. I only ever said "no" to a boss once when I was being made redundant and she nearly fell off her chair! It saved me lots of time, I had nothing to lose and needed to focus on me.

Very useful, thanks for sharing, Phil
