Practice makes perfect

What are you practicing?
Every person is a practitioner in their own right. We are all masters of something in our life. Some people are masters of thinking nothing, doing nothing and getting nothing which is actually something.

If practice makes perfect, then being perfect does not mean success. You may be perfectly wrong or right. When you practice the right way you will get right or desired results, and when you practice the wrong way, you will be perfectly wrong. You may not like the results you are getting which we call failure or when you get results you desire, then that is called success.

I read the book of Nathaniel Branden who is regarded to be the best-seller of the Psychology of Self-Esteem, called "The Six Pillars Of Self-Esteem". Nathaniel Branden is regarded as the leading pioneer in the field of self-esteem psychology.

The Six Practices of Self-Esteem

I have read a lot of self-help and motivational books about the subject of raising your self-esteem, but this is one of the books that was a game-change in by life. The book is more like a work-book or an interview with a psychologist. Unlike many books I have read to complete or finish reading, this became a manual as it appealed to by emotional ailment.

Like a mirror, I could see myself and an answer some difficult questions arranged in the book. The most fascinating for me was the sentence completion technique (SCT) which helped me to be honest about by feelings and thoughts.

In the book he outlined the following practices:which are fundamental to raising the self-esteem of any individual. Did I have low self-esteem? Why would I be interested in raising by self-esteem?

Definition of Self-Esteem

Nathaniel Branden defines self-esteem as the disposition to experience oneself as competent to cope with lithe basic challenges of life and as worthy of happiness.

According to this definition, it encompasses self-efficacy which is the confidence in the functioning of by mind, by ability to think. It also means that I have the ability to choose to apply by mind or think.

Do you really trust your thoughts and ideas?

It also further encompasses self-respect, which is the affirmation attitude toward your right to live and to be happy. This touches on the worthiness, "I am worthy and have the right to be happy".

"I can think"

"I am a thinker"

"I am alive and here"

"I am who I am"

"I am enough"

We have been equipped with one survival tool, which is our mind. The challenge is our choice to think or not to think. LI have done some stupid mistakes in by life when I did not think it through. And, I also took some exciting decisions when I decided to apply by mind. Our ability to trust our thoughts and ideas and to choose to think will always increase our self-esteem.

Self-esteem is about what you do which produces the feeling, and the feeling also determines what we will do.

"How you feel determines what you will do"

MY SIX PRACTICES OF SELF-ESTEEM Rituals

make our habits and our habits make us"

Actions speaks louder than words"

All masters were once beginners"

Champions take action everyday"

Our teachers come all over and we do not choose them. This 341 pages book just gave me a better understanding of myself and the six areas I need to work on. In the same way I was working out in the gym, I began to work on by mind and emotional IQ. The feeling of unworthiness, the feeling of self-doubt and being a failure were hovering over me.

I call this ritual #6n1 because I do it for 6 days beginning on Monday (by Day 1) and ending on Saturday (Day 6). Sunday is by day to reflect and rest while I prepare for the new week ahead.

I journal daily as I work on the Sentence Completion Technique {SCT). In order to create more meaning, I adopted the use scented color candles for each day. I light a candle in the morning before I go to work as a reminder of the focus for the day. My #6N1 rituals is as follows::

Day 1 - The Practice of Living Consciously (White Candle)

Day 2- The Practice of Self-Acceptance (Gas's Greem Candle)

Day 3- The Practice of Self-Responsibility(Red Candle)

Day 4 - The Practice of Self-Assertiveness (Charcoal Candle)

Day 5- The Practice of Living Purposefully )Wood Candle

Day 6- The Practice of Self-Integrity (Yellow)

Day 7 - The Practice of Self-Care and Honoring Self (All 6 Candles Go On)

Do you have any suggestions or some rituals or tips to raise the self-esteem or the practices that you used to remind yourself to step up and be counted?

Have you ever suffered low self-esteem or having the feeling of being unworthy?

I will appreciate your thoughts and experiences or books you can point me to read.

Kind Regards
