Corona virus Common Sense Tactics are not helping Us

South Africa recorded its 51st case of Corona-Virus while Kenya recorded its 1st Case. Yesterday while I was out at the party, I overhear few people talking about Corona at the party. And this was meant to be a joke, however, I recalled that Kenya has placed a ban on large gatherings such church meetings, social gatherings etc, unless sanitize rs are provided for those in attendance.

Imagine Banning Parties....

Not here in South Africa, because it was party as usual. You would see people hugging each other and being so intimate....

sanitizing or washing hands at a party?

There was no information or any warning about corona virus other than the beer or cider called Corona on Display.

Although this disease is declared a pandemic, the behavior of people do not seem to be showing any emergency. Instead, Corona-Virus has become a social media trending topic and its danger is not felt in South Africa.

Instead of taking precautions, it has created a perception that it's a Chinese and foreigners problem. You hear some comments like, be careful of the foreign nationals referring to the Spanish, Chinese, Pakistanians, etc, who were noticed at the same party spot.

The spread will be quite difficult to contain with such soft measures as basic hygiene and self-quarantine methods suggested by some political parties.

It's party time and all is just normal....

Let's take care and do what is necessary to stay safe.

I have a food truck booking business and event catering business. I am totally crippled income wise as are the FT owners.

I am spending time working diligently on my online business and my book.

When i went grocery shopping yesterday, i must admit loaded up with a few cases if beer!!!

We cant be stressed 24/7, so work at home and prepare for when normality comes back!!
Blessings to all

Carla, the ban had serious consequences on the economy. There is a fear almost everywhere, especially in our country. Worst of all, here in South Africa, the hardest-hit places are the small towns as well as rural (country) places.

The challenge is communicating the correct messages because our social media is the source of all confusion with some misguided theories.

These places have more taverns than there are churches or libraries. No entertainment, except one, goes to the tavern.

Let us play safe and take all necessary precautions to flatten the curve.

Sad, but true! I've even noticed this where I live!

Wow! Thank you Jeffrey for sharing your experiences. We really hope that people will begin to notice the importance of social distancing as a one of the ways to keep everyone whole.

We can only hope that our youth will get on board with this, my friend!

It is true that political authorities must be aware of the danger for good measures to be taken. Protect yourself and I hope everything will be fine for you and South Africa.

Ingrid
