This will depend upon your theme and plugins, however, the preferred setting for most members is Extreme. You will want to perform a PageSpeed test on both settings, making sure you clear the server cache after each change, and running the test at least twice, taking the final score. If you are using any form of a caching plugin, or a plugin that manipulates your JS & CSS files, then you will want to always use Accelerated.

My theme is omega, I have 5 plugins. I don’t believe any of them is a caching plugin. I don’t know how to clear the cache. My seat speed is all green for mobile and desktop. Except for the post that I put the video in. The desktop is green but the mobile is orange at 69

No worries, do you have a plugin to lazy load videos, in particular to lazy load the YouTube iframe?

To clear the server cache, you can do this by going to Website -> SiteManager -> Details -> SitePlus+ -> Clear Cache button

Thanks for this Chrystopher, I shall be looking into this further over the coming weeks, as I set up a new site that will have a few hundred videos on.

Hi Chrystopher, sorry to but in. I am currently using the Kraken plugin. I do have YouTube videos on my site should I use one or the other or should I use both.

Thank you,
Michael

What's the other option you are contemplating? :-)

I haven't mentioned image optimisation plugins in this thread, and you can't use Accelerated and Extreme together, so I'm a little lost ;-)

Sorry Chrystopher, just wondering due to the fact I am using videos if the lazy load plugin would be better. I know I will have to give up one plugin for the other.

No, nothing to give up, as they do different functions. Kraken only optimises images, not videos, and it doesn't lazy load. WordPress core now lazy loads, but only images and not videos. So as you have videos, you will want a plugin to lazy load these iframes from YouTube etc.

No I’m not using the lazy load plugin. I don’t know anything about plugins. I just put on the site what Kyle said to do in the training.

No worries, if you do want to improve the page speed for the posts that have YouTube videos on, then you will want the video lazy load plugin.

Wouldn't extreme be a natural choice?

It should be, yes, as long is it does not break your theme and plugins, as the Extreme setting manipulates your JS & CSS files. Which is the reason for using Accelerated if you use a caching plugin or a plugin similar to Asset Cleanup.
