Good Morning Keisha,

Time ago, when I checked my Site Health, I came across this issue. Site Health said I should update to 7.4.
I contacted Site Support, and they told me that was not necessary yet. Personally I thought it was affecting my speed but was told it does not affect it.
Anyhow, I went to have a look just now and both my old websites are still on 7.2.10 and the new one I started in May has 7.3.9. I think it is time to contact Site Support again.

Greetings from the south of Spain,

Taetske

Let me clear up some confusion here.

WA is in the process of upgrading servers.
It is at the Server level that determines the PHP 7.x version.

Yes some sites are still running on pre 7.4 because that is all they need and still secure.

Other sites have been moved or moved by request as I did to the new servers so that we have access to PHP 7.4 for our plugins to work appropriately.

If you need 7.4 then I suggest you contact Site Support and they will work with you to get your hosting updated.

My site was running at PHP 7.3.9 and had requested many times to move to the latest version of PHP 7.4 but to no avail. The same reasons given time and time again as some posts with large images have affected my mobile speed.

I have given up. Well, this is not the end of the world l just patiently waiting for them to upgrade their hosting.

That may or may not be so

But i have on numerous occasions, enquired on this status of server levels, as the PhP is definitely affecting performance and related plugins, also when google, shareaholic and other systems or plugins state this is important for the optimum effect of your site speed,
shouldn't we be listening and correcting otherwise why bother with analytics?.
If we are on older systems servers then we should be told.
also it has been months ago, since i upgraded one of my sites to new server levels, and still trying to confirm is my other sites are also upgraded,

I don't believe anyone here care to spend precious time chasing like techies on google and other measures to fix what doesn't need fixing?

each time pushed to get on the upgraded servers i am still in the dark as to what level or servers my particular site/s are running on.

When we ask for clear answers that is what we should receive don't you think?

Hi Keisha, we are running PHP Version 7.3.9. WA is has no plans to update it at this time but I here it is in the process. The minimum is supposed to be 7.4. I see Abbie has already answered this question.

... hey hi Michael ... good to see ya here .... i've been away for a bit (the move thing) and was checking the updates for my sites and noted varying PHP versions ... yes, it's at the server level however it is one of those factors we need to be aware of for our site health ...as you're already aware ...

.... version 7.4 -- is it already installed? ...

Hi Keisha, I was not aware of 7.4 being installed. I did contact site support a while back and they said I have the most current WA version 7.3.9. Seems like I may have to submit them a support ticket.

Thank you,
Michael

... apparently, the servers were upgraded during this weekend? ... so it's likely things will catch up soon .... surely they get bombarded with all kinds of requests, we'd want to make sure that we consult with them only when absolutely necessary .... it costs a pretty penny for the tech. assist.... just sayin' ... I managed a tech shop in a different life and recognize the budgetary costs associated with service requests....

... surely, we'd want for WA to be financially viable ...

Another tidbit. If you just want to confirm what version your running. There is a little plug-in called Display PHP Version (something to that effect) that will show you what version is running on your WP installation. It displays it in your WP dashboard.
