Hi WA family, so I have this article ranking on google page 1 falling up and down, and I keep struggling with the site speed of the article.

When I try to improve it, I have deleted images, make images smaller, etc., and it did seem to work, and the article seems to return to the first page after I made improvements.

However, it is a recurring issue, and site speed doesn't seem to be a consistent factor for me?
My Questions are, for those using youtube movies in articles, do you use lazy load or compress them at all?

I don't like lazy load, but I think this might be one of the issues with this article?
Question 2, Does Kraken compress your images as well?

I know many people go with images sizes and resizing differently, and I already have asked many questions about this.

I am resizing images before uploading now, but I have been recommended to use short pixel to compress the photos as well, but I can't use it as it is not complementary with Kraken.

Do you compress your images after resizing or any other advice to have a more consistent site speed?
Many thanks for your insight and experience.

Jude

Good Morning Jude,

I have Kraken and Lazy Load, but still my speed is bad.
I think I have told you in the past that I am reloading my pictures as they are too heavy on my Media file.
In old times I downloaded the "heavier" version from Pixabay and now I am replacing by the "lightest version. The pictures look the same on the post. One should not forget to delete the old ones from the Media file.
It is a big job, it goes slowly but when it is finished in a couple of months, I hope my website speed will improve.

Greetings from the south of Spain,

I am more conscious on image sizes now and try to keep it small while letting Kraken do the rest. I am also interested to know how Kraken manages image performance.

I had to install Smush three weeks ago.
I monitor my speed through https://gtmetrix.com/.
I saw huge improvement.

Thanks a lot for your suggestion, I have used Smush before but had issues with the speed of my images loading while the plugin was activated so I ended up deactivating de plugin. I check out your link, thanks. Jude

Hi, do you leave it activated? For me my images in my article loading super slow so I deactivated the plugin previously for this reason.
Thanks for your suggestion.

I did Mark, and it did a great job but my images loading to slow with the plugin deactivated. You give me an idea here though, I actually may have to switch it on and off to smush every now and then if this would work? Thanks for the reminder, I actually might try that. Cheers, Jude and thanks for stopping by.
