Don't be afraid to contact site support for help. They have been extremely helpful for me in the past.

I contacted them on the same critical issue and was told that the background updates are disabled because it interferes with their own security.

As far as plugins you are not using. Best practice is to delete any plugin not currently activated. Most plugins save data in your server files so if you re-download them, they will probably pick up where you left off. The reason it's best to delete ones you are not using is because the plugin may not be updated and old plugins are a huge security hole for hackers.

I am not sure about the older version of PHP/PHP update. I would think this is also something that Siterubix will deal with on the back end, but you might want to double check with site support.
