Quick question - do you have to update your menu every time you create a new post? For example, adding it to a drop down menu? Let's say you have a tab about dogs and then it drops down to the different types of dogs - corgie, mutt, cocker spaniel...and then you write about a poodle. DO you need to go into your menu and then add that new 'poodle' post to the menu so that it will also show in the drop down menu? Or is it ok to just let it stay archived on your site? If so, how does your audience find the newest post apart from on your blog roll?

When you want it to appear in a dropdown, yes
you can auto add it to your menu, but it will appear in the upper line

You can add a custom menu for your posts or add them to your menu too

Thnx Loes. How do I do an auto add ? It does not matter too much where they show up, as long as they show in the category I have selected.

Hi Michelle, be careful, it does matter where they appear and in which numbers. There is a limit for the number of items in the menu (and submenus). It is 80 usually. I reached the limit once (with pages) and then had to restructure everything. Nobody told us about the limit.

You were speaking of adding posts into menu. You will be surprised how quickly you will get there, and then face a problem.

I learned in a bad way, from my own experience in one of the site. Blogged about it earlier. I was disappointed nobody told us this

So I seem to have to go and add a new post to my menu every single time I add a new post. I'm not sure if there's a way to set it up to where it automatically does it. But it doesn't take very long to add a post to your menu. However, if you don't want posts in your menu, then it's probably fine to keep it in archives.
