I moved my domain to another, but my old one still shows up in the search results (thankfully it redirects to the new one). Why is that?

dId you move from a siterubix to your own domain? the redirects are set up so that you don't lose your rankings for those pages and posts. So lets say your old site had a page that was ranking super well. If you just republished it on a new site it would have to start from scratch and could even possibly suffer from a duplicate version of it already ranking well. Redirecting your posts helps keep their place and google without them getting a 404 error for no longer existing there and redirects to the correct place where they are located.

Thanks for this info. Do you have any thoughts o how I might set up a "test" site in siterubix using a subdomain? I don't want said test site to rank in the search engines.

Um I think the best idea would be if you look at your wordpress dashboard, look down the left and go to to settings. Look under Reading and scroll all the way down, there should be an option that says something like discourage search engines from indexing this site. That should help, though I don't know if anything can make your site completely invisible if the search engines manage to find it somewhere.
If you have the all in one seo plugin activated on all your test pages and posts you can also scroll down to the seo options that appear at the bottom and check the boxes next to Robots Meta Noindex and Robots Meta Nofollow.

No, I purchased a domain added some content, then decided I wanted to change the name, so I purchased another, and I moved my content to the new. Both domains are indexed, but my old domain name is the one I found in search results. But when I clicked on it, I got directed to my new, which is good. But I want my new domain listed in search results instead of old one that directs to the new...

Stephon G, Kyle did a video on adding a privacy policy, and he said if we scroll down and click the last four boxes, that page can be duplicate content because we'll be telling search engines not to rank it.
