Hello WA Family 🙋‍♀️

On my last blog post I shared my podcast launch planning. I have recreated a new podcast cover that I think looks more professional. I will be sharing that on my blog post tomorrow.

Today I'd like to get some ideas from you all so I can have more clarity to podcast concepts, music theme, intro and outro, etc. I am so new to this and I want to do it the right way.

I would be very grateful of you could support me with this little questionnaire.

1) Do you listen to podcasts? If so, what is your favorite podcast and why?

2) Do you enjoy long or short podcasts? How long do you typically listen to a good podcast?

3) Do you like it if the host starts with ads before going to his or her topic of the day?

4) What about music... Do you think a jingle or just a short instrumental song is enough for the intro and outro?

5) Guest appearance. Do you like it if the format is interview like, talks, or discussion? Or, does it sound better and more enjoyable if it's in a relaxed and friendly chat kind of talks?

Many thanks in advance for your input. 😀🙏 I appreciate it.

Have a great weekend to you all.

Stay safe, happy, and healthy!

To Our Success,

Ferra

Podcasts are popping up everyone more rapidly now due to Covid 19. However, while podcasts can be another form of lucrative opportunity to expose a product/content to your listeners, there is a high percentage of podcasts program collapsing everyday. It's like a hit and miss thing. You either have some good contents/topics to engage your audience with or end up not making it. I don't want to knock your idea down. I'm just stating some facts based on current research. Major factors are time consuming, file storage, not searchable, accessibility problems, and limited audience. It doesn't hurt to test it out and see where it'll take you from there. If I had a choice, I'll go with the last question. All the best!

I listen to tunnel vision for USC Trojans podcast or any USC Trojan football related podcasts. I listen for about 45 minutes before wanting it to end unless the content is excellent. I really do not care about the music so much but they do have it at the BEGINNING and end of the podcast for about 30-45 seconds. Ads should be placed at the beginning or the middle but not at the end of the podcast. I enjoy the interviews and question answer content. I listen about once or twice a week depending on the topic, i.e. recruiting, the next game coming up, what the coaches said etc...They sometimes have callers call in and that is interesting. I hope this gives you some good ideas. Emak! John

My daughter have introduced us to pod cast and it is an easy way to listen while driving.
We focus on health topics and insights from various natural doctors. Our longest ones are usually about 1 hr.
We love the music from the 60s to 80s. But as we gotten older, we have grown fond of instrumental music and orchestra . Funny how that work.
Guess appearance- Yes The discussion become more lively and different perspectives.
Good luck with your findings.

Hi Dennis,

Thank you very much for your support by sharing your experience listening to podcasts.😀🙏 I appreciate it.

My plan is to be using my hometown's traditional music for my intro and outro. I have some friends who own dance academy and they create and record their own music.

I am thinking to do short episodes, but I wouldn't mind mixing it with a longer one once in a while. It depends on the topic, whether or not I have guest appearances, etc.

Once again, thank you. Have a great weekend!

1) Do you listen to podcasts? If so, what is your favorite podcast and why?

I used ti listen to training type podcasts but less nowadays because there is often too much ’fluff’. So I tend to listen occasionally for entertainment. My favourite is a Rugby Union podcast called ’House of Rugby’.

2) Do you enjoy long or short podcasts? How long do you typically listen to a good podcast?

Usually a naximum of half an hour.

3) Do you like it if the host starts with ads before going to his or her topic of the day?

No. But I accept it as necessary sponsorship.

4) What about music... Do you think a jingle or just a short instrumental song is enough for the intro and outro?

I am a musician and love music but most musical intros are not to my taste and too long.

5) Guest appearance. Do you like it if the format is interview like, talks, or discussion? Or, does it sound better and more enjoyable if it's in a relaxed and friendly chat kind of talks?

I prefer the friendly chat style / interview so long as there isn’t a lot of time-wasting.

Hi Richard,

Thank you very much for your support by sharing your experience listening to podcasts.😀🙏 I appreciate it.

I am so grateful for your input. You just gave me ideas and things to think about further. Especially for the intro and outro music.

Since you're a musician, I would love to hear your perspective on using a traditional instrument. My plan is to use traditional music from my hometown (Borneo, Indonesia). It will be a traditional 2 or 3 string guitar. I am thinking, 5 to 8 seconds before my intro.
What do you think?

Once again, thank you very much for your support. I will be checking the podcast you recommended. I love learning as much as I can so I can do mine in the right way.

Have a great weekend.

Hi Ferra
Interesting. As it happens I trained classically (violin) through school but mainly played traditional music from the UK, Scandinavia and America plus some jazz (violin and mandolin). Started playing professionally while at school. I also have music recording and production qualifications and experience. Once a musician, always a musician although I cannot play at the moment due to Muscular Dystrophy. I would need to hear an example to be objective, but it sounds like a great idea. When you are ready, feel free to reach out (pm if you wish) so that I can listen and give feedback. I’d love to help.
Richard.

Thanks so much, Richard. It will be like a mandolin. It's traditional guitar from Borneo that has 2 or 3 strings. I will be sending you a PM but I am not sure I can attach an MP3 file though.

Hi Dave,

Thank you very much for your support by sharing your experience listening to podcasts.😀🙏 I appreciate it.

I will be checking out the podcast you recommended. Learning from a different niche is also good for me.

There are so many things to be prepared and learned, but I will keep going. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts, Dave.

I might need a brand photographer to create my brand cover. I will also need to contact a friend who can allow me to use his group's music as my intro and outro music. It will be traditional music from my hometown (Borneo, Indonesia).

Have a great weekend.
