Hi all, is content protection really necessary, if so, is it as simple as installing a plugin and what is the down side of protection your content if any?

I see that the message is to keep plugins to a minimum as it impacts speed but it seems they are basically unavoidable in many instances.

Thank you

I never thought that content protection was necessary until someone stole my content.

So I reacted by installing the plugin, adding a load to my website.

I guess you just have to choose the plugins that are absolutely crucial to your website and keep them minimal.
All the best.

Hi Martine, I think there is that plugin " no right-click " which will prevent folks from copying and then republishing your work.

It is something that we all need to come to terms with and manage accordingly.

If you are concerned you can run your contents across a plagiarism checker, that will let you know if there other instances of your content out there.

it is about finding where we are comfortable. If folks want to copy they will, do we have the energy or time to take them t task?

I guess it comes down to what we are prepared to accept or not.

In the end, it's up to you. That said, if someone really wants it, they'll figure a way around your protection measures. One thing I did notice when I messed around with it is the plugin I used (I forget the name) prevented right-clicking, so something as simple as opting to open a link differently (I.e. in a new window or tab) would no longer work because they couldn't right-click to make the appropriate selection.
