I don't understand directions to verify I own website/ Please help!!!

To verify that you own a site, you have two options to select from:

Option # 1 - Add a <meta> tag to your home page (proving that you have access to the source files). To use this method, you must be able to edit the HTML code of your site's pages.
<meta name="fo-verify" content="aa3ebc84-5efb-40a7-a1c3-183850f9b86b">
Option # 2 - Upload an HTML file to your server. To use this method, you must be able to upload new files to your server. Download HTML Verification File
After placing the meta tag on you home page or the file in the root of your website directory, return to this section and click the button below to verify your site.

To verify that you own a site, you have to do the following:

Download the file provided in the link below.

HTML Verification File

Tip!
In some cases when a browser downloads the same file multiple times it will add a number to the file name. Be sure to rename the file to remove the extra number.

(e.g. : fo-verify(1).html)
Upload the HTML file from the previous step to your server in the root of your site.
To complete verification you must be able to upload new files to your server.
Once you have downloaded the file you will need to place it on the root of the website being verified. You could use a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) client if you have a FTP feature enabled on your server or from your hosting package. A popular FTP client is https://filezilla-project.org/ , or if you have an administrator for you site please contact them and have the administrator upload the file to the root of the website being verified.

Once you have uploaded the file to your site return to the account verification page and click on the button.
To verify that you own a site using meta tag, you have to do the following:

Add a <meta> tag to your home page (proving that you have access to the source files).

<meta name="fo-verify" content="aa3ebc84-5efb-40a7-a1c3-183850f9b86b">
To use this method, you must be able to edit the HTML code of your site's pages.
Tip
<meta> tags always go inside the <head> element.I'm trying to verify

Hey Roger,

Whenever you are required to add scripts to your website header, it is recommended that you use a plugin: so that your scripts will NOT be overwritten each and every time you update your theme.

Hope you find this helpful.
