I am working in the back office of WP and getting an error message on the contact form for my WP website that will set the method of receiving emails from potential customers. In the From field it says "Invalid mailbox syntax is used". I have tried several variations and read the instructions in the 'How to Resolve' link with no success e.g. <[your-email]>. Any recommendations would be welcomed. Thanks.

Hey Maria,

Have you tried Google searching the prompt you received and read through the different support tickets, videos and/or posts in your search results?

See screen print below...

That is how I tackle any error messages like this.

PLEASE, DO backup your website BEFORE making any changes so that if worse comes to worse, you have a way of restoring your website to the version BEFORE you made your changes.

Hope you find this helpful.

When setting up your contact form, do you mean that on the mail tab, the email address you want to use is not recognized as being valid?
Or rhe actual email is not typed in correctly.

I recently had this issue.

The solution was how I had typed in the email, there was an extra character that was not part of the email. Example, two @@, or a comma where it should be a period.

Try that and see if that helps.

Hello Rudy. Yes the error is on the mail tab on the contact form. Looking at trying a few options. Thanks for responding.

Can you post a screenshot of the mail section of the contact form? Post or send via pm if you choose, either way...

By seeing the page, we may be able to see what's going on...

Thanks...

Not sure if this is a related problem, but my WA email will not send mail to Microsoft-based email addresses, which includes Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, and one other that I forget.

That's why I am currently using one of my non-WA emails in my posts.

Support is supposedly working on this.

MSN has kicked out Hotmail, all Hotmail accounts could be converted to outlook by the account owner, and the stored mail would switch over unharmed.... that is why Hotmail isn't recognized as valid. Outlook is still valid.

I have two Outlook email addresses and a Gmail address besides my WA email. Gmail works fine, both directions. Both Outlook emails can send to my WA account, but sending from WA email to Outlook does not work on either. It doesn't go to Spam (Outlook calls it Junk), or anywhere else. I've reported it to Support and they said that there were some problems with Outlook, Hotmail, and some other Microsoft-based email. I have not heard back from them yet, but it *is* still a problem, so until it is fixed I am using one of my personal emails instead of my WA one.

You're welcome! Back in 2013 is when MSN decided to discontinue Hotmail....it just took a while...
Gone the same way as netzero.net....that was my first email...

Outlook should work...check to see if it needs to be updated.

If you have the version prior to office 365, that could be why.
Apparently, only those with the 365 can create outlook email accounts. That is a rough translation on what I read when researching about the Hotmail email.

Most email services offer a settings option. You might want to check the settings option to see if yiu can adjust the settings, say, don't use html, just text inbound so you receive the email.
