Many people have a tough time choosing a domain name so I wanted to create a discussion where people could get help and feedback on their domain ideas. Before you post your domain or ask for help though, I just want to give you some insight into choose a domain.
First, where do you buy a domain name?
I highly recommend that you buy your domains from the SiteDomains platform right here within Wealthy Affiliate. We offer one of the most sophisticated, advanced, and user friendly domain registration processes on the world.
To access the SIteDomains platform, you simply click on the SiteRubix menu and you will see the SiteDomains button directly within the menu (as shown below).
===> Access the SiteDomains platform here!
Within the SiteDomains you will be able to search domains to see if they are available and it will help you come up with ideas.
There is no setting up of "nameservers" required. Everything is done automatically for you, and we include absolutely every domain feature possible (including whois privacy) with every domain purchase.
What type of domain should you buy?
I personally recommend that you buy a .com domain if you can find one that you like. If you cannot find one, the second best TLD (Top Level Domain) is a .org or a .net. Aim for a .com though, they indicate to search engines that you are the "brand" owner and you will always achieve the best results if you can find one to your liking.
The reason this is so important is that as you build out content on your website, you will be able to rank easier under your target keywords. More rankings equate to more traffic (and opportunity).
How do I choose a domain name?
There are two different types of domain names, keyword rich and brandable. People get too caught up in trying to find a domain with a keyword in it.
An example of this would be:
BestDietsToLoseWeight.com
Sure this is fine and this would be OK within the dieting niche, but you absolutely do not need a keyword within your domain name to rank well. In fact, often times if you focus too much on trying to stuff a keyword within your domain name, you will end up with a brand that comes across as very awkward.
It is your content that is going to rank in Google and other search engines, so having a keyword in your domain may help for that one keyword, but there are MILLIONS of keywords out there remember.
So a brandable domain would work just as well and sometimes even better because it is more memorable.
WeightLossPros.com
Or...
WeightLossWithKyle.com
Those are not targeting keywords per se, but they are very brandable and will work out just fine.
The key is to make your domain relevant to your niche and it should make sense to people coming to your website. People do remember domains and search engines do

If you are truly stuck, give us your niche and we will help you come up with ideas.
For my WA affiliate site, I had the domain onlinepossibilities.com, so I went with that for now, although I think I'll be changing it later. After reading through the training I think I could do something far more brand able or keyword rich. It'll work for now though!
