I just did this. You need to turn any type of whois protection off. You also need to unlock your domain for transfer. Once you get your EPP code I would actually email name cheap and ask them to verify that you have the correct code and that it's synced with the registry. My first transfer attempt failed because the code was synced with the registry for some reason.
