How can I upload a different favicon for my site and change the pre-added one? (I have the image file saved as an .ico file on my computer already...)

Getting there...minor bumps as I build out the website but the community here have been great! Really appreciate your support!

I took a look. Your site is very different and that's good! The one thing I noticed right off is that your home page looks unfinished. You need enough subjects with accompanying photos to cover the page. I love the larger photos marking the pages. I think when you have a full introduction page, it will be much better. Good Luck!

You can download the Captain Favicon plugin and upload a 16x16 or 32x32 image

I had a look at the tutorial and it says "Upload your favicon to your website’s root directory using FTP"...how do I get to the root directory exactly??

I would go the plugin route. It's easier.
