I have started a premium trial membership with GTranslate, and in order to be able to edit the translation the plugin does, I need to insert some code into the .htaxxes file of my website. I use Generatepress as a theme.

Has anyone any experience with such code insertion and how do you do it?
Can I use the "Insert header and footer" plugin todo this?

Roy, There is a way to do this with generate press. don't use header footer as it is no longer good for your site.

first, export your site in case something happens.

Go into generate press under your theme on your dashboard.

scroll to the top and you will see modules and elements. Click on elements.

then you will see add new, click on that. then under choose element type choose hook.

name your element such as G translate.

then place your code into the box and publish it.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Hi Laura
I recently put the header footer plugin on my site for the Google analytics code.
Is the header footer plugin going to affect my site?
Can you clarify?
Thank you

Hello Louise, The plugin is a bit outdated. But many are having issues with it interfering with other plugins on their site. It all depends on the theme and unfortunately, I do not know which ones it is fine with and which ones it is not.

It was enough of a problem for me that I stopped using it and put my codes in a different way.

There are still some here at WA who say it is the best thing since sliced butter but I am not one of them.

I hope this helps some.

Hey Roy,

If you do edit your htaccess file, be sure to keep a copy of the original, because if you edit that file incorrectly, you could take your whole website down.

Having the original file to restore the poorly edited version will save you a LOT of heartache.

Hope you find this helpful.

If you want to edit your htaccess file, you can use FTP to download it, edit it and then upload it back into your site. You can get your FTP info under Websites > Site Manager > Details.

You can also ask Site Support to do it for you...
