I am curious. Each time I submit a new article to Google Webmaster to be indexed, it continues to show 'indexing requested', even after weeks. How do I know that it is done? Is there anything else I need to do? Please see snapshot below.

The most recent one I did today's date and the one below it has been done since 14 Aug 2017. It still shows 'indexing requested' - does that change or it just remains that way?

Thanks

The message "Indexing requested" is to let you know that you have already requested indexing. It doesn't change.

Thnx, Marion. And if that is the case, why do need to 'request it' if it is automatic and 'complete'? Just wondering.

Requesting gets the indexing done faster. Otherwise it could take a week or so

Marion Black had a great tutorial on Google indexing...I'm still trying to understand it...I only have 142 out of my 246 URL's indexed so far, but I think I disabled a plugin to read my sitemap so I think I messed it up. I will see how long it takes to index the remainder. Sorry, I'm not too much help on this...

No worries, we are all in 'learning mode' here at WA.

Depending on the maturity of your website your content will be indexed within either minutes or hours. The status on that page will not tell you when it has been indexed.

You can always search your keyword on Google Incognito to see if it comes up or you can do a site search on Google by typing in the search bar

site:yourdomainname

All one word with no spaces and without the www or https

Thnx, Rob. It's not that I am curious about the article being indexed, it is just why its status of 'indexing requested' (or that line) does not change.

It is not supposed to change. All it is saying is that you requested indexing. Google will index your content after you request it and it can be verified through a site search of your content.
