I went back to retake all of my training to build 2 new sites.

I created 2 new sites and the 5.8 is totally different...

Nothing like the training not even close, and I have no idea how to use this.

Constant change is the nature of the beast on the internet, Kenneth! I am muddling my way through the block editor setting up my Woocommerce site! It has slowed me down a bit, but learning this is the way forward, as the Classic editor is losing all support ant the end of December!

Changes are never permanent, but Change is! We must grasp it and move forward, my friend! Just my two cents here, of course. I understand how frustrating it can sometimes be!

When you say not supported??
Any post created will still exist....just the plug in will not work after December???

Is there a training video on the new editor??

No, its just if you have issues, you'll be on your own. There will be no updates or tech support! It's essentially being discontinued!

Hi

That's pertaining to WordPress vs GeneratePress.

You may install the classic widgets plugin and with the classic editor.

https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-sidebars/
https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-widgets/

Initially you may download to your PC and then upload .zip files to your WordPress sites back office.

Or go to Plugins > Add new, input classic widgets, install and activate.

However in the standard view you may click the plus to add something or the three dots and choose to remove a block from the drop down menu.

However there was an update from Kyle regarding this, you may not have the option to choose the Classic editor in Settings > Writing and if so, you'd have to work with the Block editor instead.

i take it you mean wordpress 5.8
you can still add hte classic editor plugin along with the classic widgets plugin and that will get you back close to what it used ot be....
but learning to use the block editor will take you forward and open new horizons....
this applies to the widgets as well
good luck

The problem is I could barely use the last one, after 200 posts now nothing is the same as that training??

I am retaking all the classes now...

There is no training for this...

I should not need luck..I tried the classic editor still not even close to the training.

The training should be the same as the theme.

the first level has been updated to reflect using the block editor as starters don't get the classic editor plugin...
i haven't gone through the second level to see if that has been updated...
everything is changing on the web...
wordpress is trying to make it so you can edit your whole site with its program.. it is a way off yet but getting closer...

Well I suppose I will start all over again...
The story of my life...
Strange because everyone here has a different answer....
Would be better if only facts were stated instead of opinions.
Thanks

go through the training again and see what you think...
its not starting from scratch ... the process is still the same ...
there maybe a littel change to how you get there, the user interface, but wa don't control that wordpress do and they are constantly changing at the moment...

Hi Kenneth,

Are you trying to learn the Block Editor? I'm just trying to understand what it is you need help on. If it's the Block Editor... I have notes on it.
