Hi everyone!

So I have been putting off adding email subscriptions to my site because I don't understand anything about it so I figure it's time I ask.

How does it work? Is there a plugin for it? When people subscribe where does their email get stored and how do you access it to send them emails? Do you need a special email program for this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm tired of wondering about this lol

Thank you all in advance for your time and help!

Melissa

Hi Melissa,

My suggestion is to not concern yourself with email marketing yet.

Since your site is still relatively new, focus on building traffic with content so you can build a pretty good funnel. Doing this will create revenue for your site.

From there, you can then think about starting with zero cost email marketing where you can have folks sign up to your email list and then they receive a notification when you post a new blog post.

Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot, Jay!

From the answers I've received here that was the direction I figured I should go at this point. I thought it was kind of a must but I see now that it's not a must just yet.

Thanks for your time, I appreciate it ☺️

Please dont use a free email autoresponder they don't deliver. Ultimately you will want to change to a paid one and you can't do this without them having to double optin and privacy laws. So i makes sense to wait until you have enough traffic to purchase the email responder you need

Thanks Catherine! That was something else I was wondering about because I've seen free and paid ones but I assumed the paid ones were better for obvious reasons.

They are more professional and when I see someone using a free one then I won't subscribe, if they don't take their business seriously why should I ?

Hey there Melissa!

Dale's explanation was spot-on. For a pretty clear explanation of what email marketing is & how it works via GetResponse (which is my personal favorite provider cuz they're relatively newbie & user-friendly), just go here:

https://www.getresponse.com/features/email-marketing

Then you can contact their stellar support team for further clarification.

Hey Melissa,

Depending on your budget, of course, you could use Aweber as your autoresponder or try this option: Hope you find this helpful.
