Hello everyone,

My daughter is an amazing artist and has quite a few pieces that she has created. We have decided that we are going to build a website to build her portfolio and sell her art.

What I started was a blog post. I was setting it up to have all of her art to admire and a place to sell the ones she will let go. She will have to do the blog part on her site but I am running the back end.

I was also considering having art supplies available on the site. Those could be available through affiliates. What I don't know is if I should use WooCommerce. I don't know enough about web design and how it works.

Do you have to have an inventory to use eCommerce? Is it possible to drop ship from someone elses inventory?

I really have a lot of questions, I guess I am just looking for some guidance on how I should build the website to optimize her portfolio while being able to allow folks to purchase, collect payment, and ship items.

Any help will be appreciated.
Chad

Yes, indeed, Chad! I have a friend who does it for much the same reason!

Thanks Jeff,
I have started working on it, I guess I just needed that little reassurance before starting something I have never done before.
Lots to learn!

Yes, you most certainly can. Woocommerce the WP free plugin works great. It has so much built into the free version.

Make sure you use a theme that is compatible with WooCommerce.
We use the free theme Astra.

Hi George,

I have installed the plug-in and started building the store. I now have the two available pieces I have on the site for sale and it seems everything is working.

There is a lot to this. I have started some training that Phil provided by Jay. See if I can get some more answers there.

Still have to figure out shipping and all that to make sure it is correct but I am on my way!

Still have to get more media and finish the site itself but if you would like to see some of the art she has done it is dialartistry.com.

Thanks for the answers!

Really sweet you daughter says you are helping have her own web space. That is really special. The site is coming along nicely and I can tell your daughter really likes to paint.

Thanks for sharing.
