Hi all

In my theme I have a section in my header that allows an advert. After the google update the other day with regard to the Rel = sponsored tag. I whent through my site and added it to all the links.

But I am unable to complete the task because I have an advert in my header section of my theme which is HitMag that I can't fathom out how to add the tag to.

I was hoping somebody could help me with this. The code for it looks like this.

Sorry the text is an image but it wouldn't let me type the code in.

How would I add the Rel tag or is this not possible or not needed?

Many thanks for any help with it in advance

Regards

Steve

Hey Steve,

Here is what Rank Math says about adding the rel=sponsored tag to affiliate links.

After the party, I know...grin, but hey! why not?

I use rank math SEO plugin- helps save a ton of time for all of this (you’ll understand what I mean when you get it!) what SEO plugin do you use?

Yeah that’s pretty good too. I defo recommend rank math though- mainly for adding sponsored tags to affiliate links easily but I also really like the added features in there now too. I defo do not recommend Yoast SEO anymore it just keeps getting worse

All In One does add sponsored tags with a tick box. But when you add a button in block editor for some reason you have to manually add it. Very odd Mike. I will have a look and think about moving over to rank math.

Ah cool that’s a new feature from when I used it- no it’s the same with rankmath for a button- I just manually add them in as html code (edit as html to do this)

Yeah it is annoying for sure- I’m sure Gutenberg will have an update that makes this easier at some point

Thank you
Do you mean like this <a target=" blank" rel="sponsored"

Try it, it should work in any case. You can write also "nofollow sponsored" as one phrase under quotes.
