I have an old Personal Training website I have not used in over 10 years. I want to kickstart it back up and I looked at who was hosting the site. It was Rackspace. They appear to have been very good at one time but have fallen on bad times. Not very good reviews.
My question? Does a domain provider not have to allow me the opportunity to point my domain name to the hosting provider of my choice? That being WA.

Thanks.

I never use the same company for both domain registration and web hosting.

I have forwarded my domain from WIX. Since you own the domain name, assuming you've been paying for it, you should be able to transfer.

What has your experience been like with Wix?
How would you compare a Wix website with one you create here on WordPress and host at Wealthy Affiliate?
I'm curious because a friend left WA to choose the simpler drag and drop Wix option and I cannot figure out why someone would do that, other than it was easy to use and didn't involve the incremental WP Plug-ins and all that "learning". Thanks

Wix is a joke.

Having a website on WIX was simple and easy to put a nice-looking website together. As I worked with the site, I learned that the SEO there is limited by lack of training. Plus, all the extra features cost more.

That's what I thought. Imagine someone leaving WA and going to Wix!!! It defies all logic!
Wix has a lot of paid add ons.
This person didn't realise the gift of WA, training and website and wanted the "shinier", "easier" WIX site, never mind.
Let's see how the site goes for her....no training on how to write. So far its showing flaws (mainly in the content)

Guarantee they were sold on a tv ad. Or some mindless, social media sites ad. One will never find a better value for $.82 usd per day for an education better than almost all 4-year degrees.

And that includes freebies like Jay, great support from WA and the community, hosting, live chat, help center, continued education etc....

I have 2 domains with 123reg here in the UK. I have just forwarded 1 of the domains to my WA site.
I don't think they can stop you forwarding the domain to a site hosted elsewhere as long as you still pay the yearly fee.

Hey Mark,

Because there are sooooo many customers from all over the country (world, in some cases), website hosting services will issue out automated warning that a site's fees are due.

They will even hang on to a website for a term in case the owner finally returns.

However, if as a customer you fail to reply to their emails saying the payment is due then they definitely would have the right to pull the site from view.

If it has not been all that long ago you could try reaching out to their support team to see if you can rescue your website, even if only the content.

Hope you find this helpful.

As far as I'm aware they can't stop you from moving hosts, although some will try. As long as you have a paid domain with them you should be able to move your domain from within WA.Jim
