Hi everyone,

Some of you may already know i'm working on the' how to travel cheaply around the world" niche. I talked mostly about travel and photos.

Photography is my second passion actually and i wanted to integrate some tutorials and training to work on photos with a software. I want to make some video tutorials on it and i could actually talk about this for days, weeks :-) I would like to promote a software i'm using and lot of photographs are actually using.

I know i could open a second website on this only but lot of travelers are actually photos lovers too. And i'm pretty sure lot of them might be interesting by these training.

What do you think, is it better to keep all on one site or open a second one, regarding the fact that i don't have enough time to work on an other site ;-)

Thanks
Sylvain

I think those two would fit together very well actually. You could still at some point in the future add another site specifically for photography if you want, but for now I think you could easily add in some photo related software to your travel site because travelers will definitely be interested in that.

I think so too :-) I just asked here but I really wanted to stay on one site, but it's always good to have opinions. I actually have a page for "photography in travel" and I could easily add an other page for trainings too.

I think photography lessons and the travel niche do fit together, and what Kyle always says, you can better have one splendid website instead of multiple averages.

I don't know if you can add a second menu using a plugin, for instance, to create lessons for people how to take the best holiday pictures ever, what to think about, what's the best camera, etc.

I just brainstorm with you ☼
You have the travel website, with as page in the menu, "travel photography" that leads to another page, where you can add nice linked images to your lessons.

All traffic will come to this website, and you create with that a higher ranking. When you don't divide the traffic over 2 websites.

What do you think about that?

Thanks Loes for your feedback. That is also what I thought first, I wanted to create an amazing site where people can found everything on it, relative to travel and photo. I know 1/2 french sites who are actually very good at it.

As I said to Mary-elle I'm already blogging about travelling photography, but on general topics, like how to save your photos during your travel, how to choose the best camera for your trave, the 10 top photo equipment you have to bring for your travel, but this is general topic and I could go on this of course. Lot of stuffs to talk about.

But i also want to help people to get their picture better and that's where the software training will help them. I've not so sure they will actually buy the software, but I will give me some traffic to my actual site and they could look on some other topic and posts on my site. That's the idea actually.

What do you think Loes ?

Personally, I think that's a great idea.

example:
A house broker can give tips on the interiors, to attract people to their site who are interested in this topic. You attract a broader audience than just home buyers, and in the future, these people may be potential customers.

You can ask Kyle for advice too, you know?

You might be lucky, it's Thursday, not the weekend, so give it a try:) Be sure you make your PM title trigger him to look :)

My pleasure, I know how hard it is to maintain 2 or more websites

Yes for me it would be to hard actually because i have a full time job too from 7 a.m to 3 p.m and then i have also a young kid to take care ;-) so that's already a lot of works !

I suggest you create another site because with time you will have many materials uploaded; it's a long term view.

However, you should link both sites. I use the "simple tab" plugin for that.

Thanks for your feedback. What is the purpose of this plugin ?

It makes a tab appears on your website. You can adjust the setting to put it either on the right or the left. You can write anything you want on it and you can link it to anywhere you want. It appears permanently even if you scroll down.

Personally, I think it might be wise to have a page (not post) on photography where you talk about this niche issue and offer the software etc....but guide them (link) to another website where you dedicate it all to that photography niche.
In my opinion it will look more professional, and exclusive.
Bonne Chance Sylvain,

Hi SantaFez, thanks for your quick answer and your opinion. This is a good choice but i still need to open a second site and one is already taking me a lot of times, as i was a newbie when i started and didn't know anything about all this.

But your idea is very good. A page on my actual site and then an other site dedicated to photos and tutorials on this software
