More than one Post Category?

I am having difficulty setting up my website to include more than one place for posts.

I have my main page wihich has my current posts. However, I would like to have a category heading saying Guest Posts. When I do a 'sample' , it shows up on my main page as part of the other posts.

I have gone through the tutorial for setting up a 'new category' but that doesn't seem to work. The Heading shows up at the top of my webpage but the new post does as well on the home page.

Do I have to have my home page static, in order to have posts elsewhere? Can I not have my current home page with my main posts as is and still have another page with guest posts set up the same way? Am I missing a step in trying to set this up. My biggest challenge seems to be that the new posts are also showing up on my home page with the other posts and this is NOT what I want.

If there is a 'current' tutorial on here that could help or a 'clear' google article or video that would help me I would appreciate it. I don't seem to be finding anything on my own.

Thanks,

Mary Ann

Mary, can you post your site here, or let us know where it can be found, as I am not sure I understand exactly what it is you are after and want to be sure my interpretation of your question is the same as you are asking!

I also have a couple of other sites using the same theme that I may want to do this as well.

Thanks Dave.

Mary Ann,
From Re~reading your post and looking at the site, which is nice by the way, you can set up another page as part of your home page, on the top menu, using the menus section and call this Guest Authors or what ever you plan to call it.

You can have a static page as your home page, and a seperate posts page, which can be adjusted in the reading section I think in your admin area.

Does that help a bit?

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated.

I understand how to add the heading as part of my menu selection but I don't know how to get the posts to land under that heading once I set it up. So far, my (sample) post ends up on the home page with my other posts.

I don't really want to make my home page static.

Does this make sense?

Mary Ann

Yes it does.

So where do I go from here?
