Make time for house cleaning!

Crazy thought!? Well, if you are quite new to Wealthy Affiliate like me, you are gathering a ton of information – in fact, sometimes that’s all it seems you are doing – training, checking out websites, reading comments, replying to comments, and the list goes on. Most of these come to us via emails!

And for me, this was becoming an overwhelming issue. At one point, I even shut off my notifications but then realized I wouldn't know if I received a new follower or if there was some information I really needed. One of trhe things I decided to do was to organize my files on my laptop. Every day there was something new in my email notifications which were crammed full of trainning information or interesting blogs. So to get a handle on all the information I was getting, I made a separate folder on my website for Wealthy Affiliate and every time I received an email with something that I was interested in but just didn’t have the time to look at right then and there, into the WA Folder it went. I think you see where I am going with this.

This morning the point was driven home when I was looking for a particular training and the HUGE list I had under WA almost made me give up. So I decided a little housekeeping was in order.

I started with 3 new file folders under my WA Folder – Training, Websites (other WA websites that I found interesting or of a benefit to me) and Photos/Graphics/Video (anything that pertained to finding photos or learning a tool such as Canva or Screencast-O-Matic). Then I realized I needed another category for the Affiliate programs I am associated with. I finally did one more ‘walk through’ and ended up adding a Google folder and a Content folder, so six in total. I am sure I could have added more folders and subfolders but I wasn’t out to make a lot of work for myself, just a little organizing. The not so fun part was moving all these files into the proper categories, but what a great feeling when I was done. Now I have a manageable list of folders that I can add to or look through when I need something! Housecleaning done for now!!
