Domain issue [should I be concerned]
5
I came across this in Google with reference to my website and not sure what to do. When I hover over the icon, this comes up: It is from SEO Minion - Chrome Extension:
“"Google has added a prorender tag to this url which means that Google believes that users are mostly going to click through this result. This happens generally for brand queries and means that the keyword is very difficult to rank for."
What are my options?
Do I change the Domain name?
Do I get a new Domain name and transfer content?
Other solutions?
- The site is about a year old
- There are only about 10 articles on it plus other stuff (ie About, Policy, Disclaimers, etc.)
Maybe the website experts could weigh in on this?
Thanks,
Mary Ann

I believe the term is prerender unless the plugin is referring to something else. Google Chrome has been doing this for a while and all it means is that Google is guessing that certain keywords will trigger specific websites. It does this to speed up loading. When a searcher searches for a term, Chrome will guess the term is associated with a particular website base on probabilities of previous searches. It will then preload that website and if the searcher does click on the website, it will send another request but with much of the page already in the browser memory. Hence, quicker loading.
It is probably doing this for high-level keywords like "discount" or "savings" or "make money". But, for long-tail keywords (three or more words in the phrase), it would seem as though this would be tougher for them to measure accurately due to the permutations involved. They have great computing resources of course. But, even they are limited to some degree.
As for raising the white flag in defeat for you domain, I have to agree with Dave (@davehayes) in rather than giving up continue to add quality content. To add to this, find ways to provide value and unique perspectives.
Best Regards,
Jim
Hi Jim. You are correct. It was prerender (slip of the finger).
Thank you for the explanation. I will do as you and Dave suggest.
