I'd recommend a test in offline environment.
See these Why and how to install Wordpress on your computer How to move the WordPress content from your computer to your live site?
Man, it just seems there is so much I have to do and I am not technical and it is time consuming! I know wah wah wah, lol.
Thanks Zed. I will try and fit that into my many other things on my 'to do' list.

Because a theme has been untested with WordPress doesn't mean it's poor, it might be a case that they just haven't got round to testing it yet.
As has been said you can do this your self in your own testing environment Or you can just install the theme and try it out
WordPress get hundreds of Themes put forward daily so don't read to much into the untested bit
I have frequently installed plugins not tested before especially if they are from a trusted source if that helps
Thanks Dave. That does help.

One other thing - for either you or Zed. I don't necessarily want to make actual changes/customization to my current theme - I want a new theme altogether as the one I am currently using doesn't have the features I need. Will the Child Theme still protect my info if I switch to a new theme?
Well it will depending on theme you use, as all vary.
My own preference is Thrive because of all the themes I have used it gives much more flexibility
But again it boils down to what you want to achieve :)
Is there a cost involved with the Thrive theme?
