A Little Taste of Success

I am one of the slow ones. I joined Wealthy Affiliate February 2018. During this time I have created 3 websites and managed to make a few dollars, very sporadically, in two of them.

The third website is the one I have spent more time on – writing posts, becoming an affiliate of several companies, and posting on social media.

Then almost 2 years to the day, a little money started trickling into this third website. One particular affiliate platform I have been associated with has been very diligent in sending me a weekly report. I have seen 63 reports like the one shown below (let me repeat, “63!”). I am surprised I put myself through this each week because it was quite discouraging to see all those zeros, week after week.

BREAKTHROUGH

Then, on February 26, 2020, I saw my first commission. Before I received my first payment, this is the breakdown:

February 26 – 29 (2 sales approved)
March 1 – 31 (12 sales approved)
April 1 – 26 (42 sales approved) - 3 declined sales

PAYOUT

When I started seeing the sales climb, I changed my payout ceiling amount from $100 to $200 to $300.

This company pays at the end of the month so when I got my first pay through PayPal the amount was over $300 ($425.54). I was impressed how fast it was deposited and placed in my bank account. (I still had sales coming in from April 27th to April 30th).

The commissions aren’t huge. The average sale is around $80 with the average commission $8. However, they are steadily climbing. I wanted to wait one more month before posting this to see what my total commission would be for the month of May.

I wanted to take an accurate time line so chose February 26th (my first commission ) to the end of the month). Here, I have shown the breakdown from April 27 to May 31st and then again from May 1st to May 31st.

PERIOD APRIL 27th to MAY 31st (unpaid commissions) - the numbers are as follows:

Total number of sales approved – 56 sales
Total number declined - 2
Payout Amount - $418.82 ($574.26 Canadian)*

I set a goal for $500 Canadian for the Month of May. As you can see, I just passed it. Zarina recently posted an article in which she mentioned ‘setting your goals higher because your actions will reflect the set goal’).

PERIOD: MAY 1st To May 31st (unpaid commissions) – the numbers are as follows:

Total number of sales approved - 49
Total number declined - 2
Payout amount - $375.48 ($514.94 Canadian)

TOTAL ACTUAL AMOUNT DUE (April 27 - May 31st) $574.26 Canadian* + another $20.90 (from another company) = $595.16.

That's almost $600 in extra income.

CONCLUSION

I will repeat what has been told to us countless times – Rome wasn’t built in a day. Yes, there are faster success stories – they abound! But for the slower ones, like me, don’t give up. Keep following the training. When the going gets tough, get tougher!

And as mentioned earlier, and as Nathaniell recently posted, don’t discount the small commissions. Even though a big commission is enticing, it’s great to have small, steady ones coming in almost daily.

I am not being complacent; this could trickle back into the zeros, but it has given me the courage to hang in there, take each day as it comes, continue with my lessons (almost finished boot camp), take a look at how I can utilize my other two websites, and don’t give up. Good things can be just around the corner.

I would just like to say one more thing – life does get in the way sometimes. For whatever reason, we have to step away from our business. However, I encourage you to always keep it within reach. You can easily say, I will come back to this next week or next month and the next thing you know, it is several months. Take a break if you must but set a ‘return to work’ date so that you never forget your goals.

Speaking of goals, my proud husband said "You are over halfway to reaching $1000/month). Hmmm, I think that was a challenge he threw at me!
