Mardi Gras - Fat Tuesday - Shrove Tuesday
Mardi Gras, also called Shrove Tuesday, or Fat Tuesday, refers to events of the Carnival celebrations, beginning on or after the Christian feasts of the Epiphany (Three King's Day) and culminating on the day before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is French for "Fat Tuesday", reflecting the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season.
Here in The United States some of us will traditionally mix light hearted fun and religious sincerity on the same day. We mean no disrespect to either, and enjoy both to the best of our individual tastes.
So Happy Celebration of either or both to all of my friends!
William :)

Yes, I'm filling up on all my junk today to start my fast tomorrow. My poor body......
It is an historically holy thing you are doing, my friend.
