I copied and pasted my affiliate link to my About me page and it takes me directly to the sign up page. What am I doing wrong?

Greetings Wade!

Here are a couple of comments you can read that will (hopefully) address your concerns:

- on this page - and a comment made in response to another question about the sign up page Hope this helps!

Huh-maybe I am wrong. I just went to an incognito window and obviously not logged in so I pasted a blog URL from someone and it did show up.

So then I pasted in the URL from your profile page, (https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/getting-started/linking-my-profile-to-my-about-me-page) and the page did come up.

When I tried to leave a comment a pop up sign up form displayed.

Now you know you can paste your "about me" page URL and it will go to your profile page at WA. My question is will you get credit for the sign up?

Greetings Gloria!

If you send someone to a page you authored at WA (a blog, tutorial, question, or your profile), you'll get affiliate credit for it - even if the link does not have your affiliate information on it! For more, see The capability is great if you want to share links to your content in social media, because use of affiliate links there is likely to get your account banned.

It's also great if someone finds your content in a Google search, since any link clicked in an organic search will also be credited to you as your referral. Gotta love it!

Hope this helps!

Oh my gosh that is indeed soooo helpful. I wonder about the links that get accounts banned and all that cause I am such a beginner.

Awesome information and thank you so much.,

Nothing. That is what it is supposed to do. I am not sure but I don't think that just anyone, not signed up here and logged in can view your profile at WA. I am almost sure of that, but it is only my third week.

Anyway, you can create any info you want on your site with an About page and then put the link there for your visitors to sign up under you. That is what the link was designed to do-funnel your referrals from your site or social network to WA for sign up.

Thanks a lot for you quick response. I had feeling that may be the case but I am still unsure of myself, you eased my anxiety. Thank you again

You are very welcome. I taught myself everything I know, about web design, searching the web etc, so it was a cool lesson for me too.

Now I want to see if when we send someone to a WA page, do we get the credit for the sign up, if that URL is taken from the address bar-I would think not cause I don't see any way to track our numbers.

Lots to learn for all of us and having fun every day!

Best of luck and will keep watching for any replies to this. ; D
