The Influential Power of Websites:
What do you want to accomplish with your Site? (Purpose)
How do you plan to accomplish that ‘Goal’? (Influence)
-“Purpose” = The ‘Desired Result’ or ‘Goal’.
*** What you want to accomplish.
-“Influence” = Sway folks to take a ‘Desired Action’.
*** Obvious attempts to persuade are less persuasive than ‘Subtle-Forms-Of-Influence’.
*** Produce ‘Content’ that contains these ‘Subtle-Forms-Of-Influence’.
*** Folks desire the ‘Content’ & receive the ‘Influencers’ overtly without being ‘turned-off’.
*** The ‘Influencers’ are intermingled within the ‘Desired Entertainment & Information’ of the ‘Content’.
‘Demonstrated Authority’ is a powerful ‘Influencer’.
- When people are confronted with Authority ‘They’ are transformed from the state of Decision Making to the state of being Influenced, Receptive & Compliant.
- Authority must be demonstrated rather than just claimed.
- Authority & Expertise are established with Good Content.
‘Social Proof’ is the act of following what ‘Others’ say & do.
- This is the distribution process on Social Media.
- Social Proof is a powerful Influencer for the perceived value of the quality & creditability of intellectual property (your Content).
- Social Proof can result from ‘word-of-mouth’, ‘retweets’, comments, review sites, forums, etc.
- Social Proof happens naturally & automatically when the crowd spreads what it likes and finds useful.
‘Reciprocity’
- Humans are wired with the obligation to repay gifts & favors.
- ‘Free-Online-Content’ sparks the obligatory feeling of Reciprocity.
- How ‘They’ feel about you & your media is of paramount importance. Be Likable & Trustworthy. Focus on helping ‘Them’.
- ‘Their’ natural resistance in the beginning will dissolve away as the process proceeds.
- Once you have your ‘foot-in-the-door’, the principle of ‘Commitment & Consistency’ will takeover. ‘They’ are wired with the desire to be consistent with previous commitments & actions.
- Each step ‘They’ take furthers ‘Their’ commitment to ‘Their’ trust & belief ‘They’ have in you, until you become ‘Their’ logical choice.
Your ‘Hub-Site’ is the platform for building your Purpose, Reputation, Influence, Authority, Brand, ‘Social-Proof’ & Reciprocity.
All of which is a form of ‘Pre-Selling’. BUT, don’t add confusion by including ‘Offers’ or trying to ‘Sell’ or ‘Close’.
Instead, link to Secondary-Sites or use Email Marketing with Autoresponders, after & separate from the ‘Pre-Selling’.
My way is NOT the only way.
