#71 Thinking Outside the Box
CONJECTURE:
This is how it is, because this is how it has always been OR is it possible there’s another way, maybe even a better way?
Thinking outside the box is a metaphor for thinking differently, unconventionally, creatively or from a new perspective.
A different style, technique, method, system, process, approach, trend, tactic, strategy or plan that is:
unique, unconventional, abnormal, atypical, uncommon, exceptional, unusual, deviant, unorthodox, unrestricted or visionary.
We will illustrate with two examples:
One example is with a “thing” (pancakes).
The other example is with a “process” (creating an online business).
#1 - PANCAKES:
A pancake is a flat, thin, round cake, prepared from a starch-based batter with a raising agent (baking powder) and cooked on a hot, flat surface such as a griddle or frying pan.
This is what is typically served in a café when pancakes are ordered.
Now, lets apply “Thinking-Outside-The-Box”:
-Vary the shape. Make them shaped like a bowl to hold fruits, jams & other additives, instead of flat
-Vary the recipe to change the texture, taste & appearance
-Vary the cooking method (bake them) to alter shape, texture & style
(Do a Google Search for “oven baked pancakes”. You will find images, recipes & additional information.)
(Try the ‘Oven-Baked-Pancakes’ and you may never go back to the ‘Typical-Flat-Pancakes’. I speak for experience !!!). Give me your feedback.

#2 - CREATING AN ONLINE BUSINESS:
Seeking Faster, Smarter, Better
The Typical, Conjectured Process:
-Identify, Find & Nurture the Correct Audience (Should be, but often is not the very first step – or not done at-all)
-Build a Website (This is the 'Conjectured' - First - Step)
-SEO – ‘Search-Engine-Optimization’ (Do all things possible to obtain a good Ranking in Google Search Results)
-Become reliant on Google to produce Traffic, Leads… ‘The List’ (Risky because Google makes the Rules & Owns the Asset… you are a “Sharecropper”)
-You have no guarantee or control over your Google Ranking
-Very time consuming with many more steps & learning-curves
-Very high failure rate
………………………
Now, lets apply “Thinking-Outside-The-Box”:
Seeking Faster, Smarter, Better
‘The-Desired-Results’ of a Faster, Smarter, Better Process
You Can Use This Process To:
- Introduce yourself
- Grow you business
- Obtain & Qualify more Leads
- Engage your audience
- Build the Relationship
- Stay in touch with ‘Them’
- Feed ‘Them’ good, relevant Content
- Avoid the appearance of being a ‘Sales-Person’
- Get ‘Them’ to buy more & more frequently
- Have ‘Them’ “Know-Like-Trust’ you
- Be seen as ‘The-Go-To-Person’
- Have ‘Them’ look forward to your emails
- Get ‘Them’ to share your stuff
- Have ‘Them’ provide referrals
- Get ‘Them’ to respond to your ‘Call-To-Actions’
- Extent ‘Their’ Buying-Cycle
- Increase your ‘Wallet-Share’ from each client
- Recruit more Clients
- Produce more Streams-Of-Residual-Income
- Improve your Retention Rate
- Improve your ‘Open-Rate’ & ‘Click-Thru-Rate’
- Do Surveys to discover ‘Their’ Wants & Problems
- Announce your Services, Projects & Events
- Send Promotions, Reviews, Reminders
- Convert ‘Leads’ into ‘Customers’
- All of this without being reliant on Google
- And more…
This “Process” is NOT Fancy, Complicated or Technical.
Just fit it into your ‘RODA’ (Routine-Of-Daily-Activity).
All You Need Is:
* An AWeber Account
* A Domain Name – Website (optional)
* Hosting (optional)
* Your Niche
* And the most important – The Process from Outside-The-Box
I am using “The LIST Principle”: (L. I. S. T.):
L = Learn (I have Learned the Process)
I = Implement (I am Implementing the Process)
S = Share (I am willing to Share it)
T = Train (I am willing to Train it)
I’m building ‘My Tribe’.
You can be a Member & you can build your ‘Own Tribe’

Nice, Wally. I'm glad many people in the past "thought outside the box". The pancake is interesting too. I'll look into that when I'm cooking for >1.
This is a really good post! As I believe it is always a benefit to be able to think outside the box! Christa :)
Hi Wally, Looks like you have something there. I would like to get a little further in the basic training b/4 I contact you on this.
On a little different note, I find your blogs very helpful and thoroughly enjoy them. Great work......Dick
