MENTORS and FOLLOWING

It's good to have a Mentor or a few Mentors.

A Mentor is someone that Knows things you don't know.

The best Mentor you can have is 'Yourself'.

When you convert 'Unknowns' into 'Knowns' you become your own Mentor.

Hopefully you understand about:

KNOWNS = The things you know.

UNKNOWNS = The things you don't know.

KNOWN UNKNOWNS = The things you realize that you don't know.

UNKNOWN UNKNOWNS = The Unknowns you're unaware of.

*** FOLLOWING ***

I only 'Follow' folks that can help me discover my 'Unknown Unknowns' or help me convert my 'Unknowns' into 'Knowns'.

I don't benefit from 'Them' talking about 'Their' weather, pets, meals, etc… 'They' are wasting my time.

Those are a few 'Nuggets' for you to evaluate, decide & adopt.

There are many more such 'Nuggets' contained within my Blog-Posts at:

Have a look & let me know what you think.

your post got me thinking to perhaps I need to search for a mentor willing to put up with me

This post really makes me think, Wally.

I recently turned on the preference to get an email for blog posts written by those I have followed. Suddenly, my email was so flooded with posts that I couldn't even sort them, let alone read them all.

I've been trying to decide what to do. If I try to read them all I consume time that should be devoted to content and building my business. It's been on my mind all week. Thanks for sharing some thoughts related to this.

I enjoy your posts Wally. I learn from many of the WA members and I appreciate it very much!!! Merry Christmas and God bless you!!!
Phyllis

interesting concept, though I would differ with being your own mentor

you want to be your own best cheerleader and advisor -- however a mentor is someone outside of ourself, someone who can help us see something in ourself that we could not otherwise see or reach

all the best,

Hi Wally,
Merry Christmas to you. I am surprise you are still writing this know and unknown stuff. Can I give you a suggestion?
You have heard of "show and tell", haven't you?
What you are doing now is telling. Your concepts are great but it is very hard for us to make use of it.
Can you give us examples and show us how it is done?
For examples:
- if I don't have traffic. How do I improve it?
- "law of attraction", how should I write which uses this method?
- if I ranking is no good, how do I improve?
- conversion rate is bad, how to improve?

Show us the way to success.
Cheers.

Merry Christmas to you & yours also.

Thanks for the 'Show & Tell' suggestion.

I'll put that suggestion in the Pot & let it 'stew' for later.

Enjoy "The-Good-Ole-Days" (those are the days that remain).

What I find interesting is that you wanted to see the face behind the dog and talked me into sharing pictures because it humanizes me and makes me more relatable. I love your blogs but *I* would like to see *you* come through in them, everything is cut and dry and it 's great information, but we don't really see Wally. So, as you've agreed, people are different. My blogs are a mixed bag. Sometimes I share WA stuff, sometimes I share me stuff. People are free to read them or not, but I'm lucky to have made friends with several people here and I enjoy reading about them too, so I'm the opposite (until it comes to toilet paper... I agree with Tom on that, hahaha).

Hurray for toilet paper.

And you are still better looking than your dog even with your crazy eyes.

How's that for letting myself 'come-through'?

hahaha, I'll take it

Wally, I doubt that we could describe a personality that we could not find several of here in our WA family. That, to me, is part of the pleasure of being here. I think blogs are for two purposes. One is for the possible benefit or pleasure of the reader and sometimes it is probably very important that the writer feel safe enough to share something they need to share with people who care. If I am not one of those who care I can just be thankful for my delete button and there is no way they can "waste my time". If I feel a kind word of support might be helpful to them I am rewarded by offering it. I certainly do not feel anything is wrong with those who feel differently. If what we are doing is making us happy and joyful there would be no reason to change. Best wishes for a great week.

We are not in disagreement. See my comments to Tim above.

I have to say, Wally, that to some small extent I disagree. "All work and no play makes Wally a dull boy." There's some truth in that. I do not mean to say that we should all get caught up in the minutia of our fellows' daily lives, but a little socializing is good for the soul. We are, after all, social animals, like it or not.

I do agree that I don't need to know the contents of everyone's meals or what kind of toilet paper they prefer. But learning about 'their' lives helps us communicate more effectively with 'them'. That is what we're after, isn't it?

I was not suggesting that other folks should (or have to) do as I do (or say). Everyone should decide for themselves how much "Socializing" is correct for them. It is just that minutia is a waste of my time BUT if that is what other folks are seeking, it's not for me to dictate.

Does departmentalizing work-&-play make for a 'dull person'?

Is WA intended for the soul or for business?

For you, toilet paper is the limit. Other folks have different limits & that's how it should be.

Well, you certainly make valid points. I agree that minutia wastes my time as well, thus my lack of desire to know about your toilet paper. I guess what I really mean is that I like to get to "know" the folks from whom I take advice, at least at little bit. I have come to value your advice and maybe that means I "know" you, to a certain extent here at WA, as being a no nonsense business person. Not a bad thing to be!
