#45 Membership – Why Pay?
Membership – Why Pay?
Membership has its privileges.
How does ‘American Express’ sell a credit card with high annual fees & that must be paid-off in full every month?
The answer is ‘privileges’ and very good customer service plus buyer protection.
It’s an elite product with an emotional sense & enjoyment of ownership & prestige.
You can do the same thing with your business; create a desire in your customers for the privilege of becoming a member?
Membership satisfies many critical emotional needs like: Belonging, Prestige, Pride, Exclusiveness, Privilege, Exceptional, Elite, etc.
You need to provide:
1. A feeling that it is risk-free to join because of the 30-Day money-back guarantee.
2. Friendly environment so ‘They’ want to be a long-term member of the ‘Tribe’.
3. Provide an environment for building Relationships with ‘like-minded-folks' having shared experiences and ideals.
Ask yourself what your customers have in common, their values & the type of community ‘They’ might seek.
Then discover a way for ‘Them’ to share values. For American Express, it was belonging to an elite group.
For your business, it’s allowing ‘Them’ to interact with each other and being proud of their membership.

Yes we all want the privilege is being part of a select group. We like the feeling of community and of feeling special. Very good post. Placing a value on your business and offering memberships also is posturing your own worth to your clients/customers. Thank you for sharing this with us. Best wishes. Angela
The privilege of being a member of a great exclusive
membership is very appealing to many.
If they can interact with each, they will stay.
Thank you Wally for sharing.
Good points. I am about to open my doors in an industry where most of my competitors claim no membership is required, yet they charge an annual fee.
Excellent Wally You got straight to the point & you must have some fine knowledge to place it out like that! Simplified just what I needed
kind Regards
