Last Night

Last night I was sitting on the couch watching one of our favorite programs and trying to keep up with all the new posts and notices that were coming from WA. After a while I started to think, "Can I really do this?" There just seems like there is so much to do and I think I was starting to get into my own head with this self-talk.

I suppose this happens to a lot of us when we start a new adventure, job, career or? It kind of reminds me of when I was 50. I had just lost a job due to Gov. cutbacks. The head games went something like, "Well, now what. Your 50 years old." At that time I didn't think that I had any real qualifications or marketable skills that would take me to my next J O B. I was confused, defeated, and I guess, feeling a little sorry for myself. That's about where I was last night.

One of my biggest struggles for me have always been procrastination and determination, (well, That's two struggles I guess). I think that's part of what is happening now along with a little anxiety, (there is a lot to process here). So I sent off a private message to another member last night explaining all this and the person sent back a nice encouraging reply. First she said, "NEVER EVER QUIT" She said that I need to make up my mind that I will stick with it for at least a year, and a way to do that was to sign-up for a 1 year membership.

So, I am going to do that very thing in about a week or so. That way I won't have to worry where the next month's payment is going to come from and it will relieve the pressure, (somewhat), of trying to make this happen ASAP

To myself I say, "NEVER EVER QUIT!!" and I shall determine not to. To the rest of you who are new and struggling, Or maybe you have been here a few months or even longer, I say, "NEVER EVER QUIT!!"

Lastly, I have a blue piece of hanging on my bookcase, right in front of me that says, "IF NOTHING EVER CHANGES....NOTHING EVER CHANGES". If we don't change...we won't change and if we don't change we will always be the same old same old.

I don't feel the same as I did last night and I hope something I have said here has helped someone else have a more positive attitude about themselves. It's not about whether I can or can't do this. It's about the encouragement that comes from the community. It's about "I Can" not "I can't."
