how do I stop the automatic payment for a subscription?
Warren if you want to leave you simply click on your Profile pic to the left of your screen then choose Account Settings.
Scroll down until you see Subscription Settings and choose Membership.
Down a wee bit more and you click on Stop Billing and Cancel Membership.
that's the thing I don't want to leave I just want to stop the automatic payment for the premium subscription but it wants me to cancel my whole membership from WA I don't understand
If you don't want to leave then why do you want to cancel?
You cannot go back to the free starter membership from Premium.

To cancel your account simply click on your “profile picture” at the top left and click on the “account settings” link.
Once in the account settings, scroll down to subscription settings click on “membership” then click on Stop Billing & Cancel Membership”
Also if you paid through Paypal be sure to cancel your recurring subscription there as well.
