I think retiree and spending quality time after pension ...

I choose unemployed. I have to narrow down it further.

the wonderful thing about WA and the internet is that it is equal to anyone who shows aptitude and does things right. The first can be developed, the second is taught here. I love the diversity.
There first the matter of niche, then the matter of the voice or persona that we use.
I think that you have great potential here Warner in your direct and extensive life experience. Plus anyone who can quote Le Petit Prince in their profile has to be in with a shot...you have a distinctive voice and good luck finding the best place and way to help others. Andy

Thank you Andy for your encourageing and heartfelt words! The writer of Le petite Prince told, he learned a lot of the great medieval mystics . I used in my meditation courses too texts from his book Markings.Hidden Behind the Cinderella clothes of the Worldreligions lives a rich spirituality. Together with the discovery of the source of creativity in the Right Brain, neglected,by modern science and the education there is growing something new at least in me. By the way, mindmapping and Prezy-presentations are fruits of it.
In the future I would like to write about it, but first I seek a niche with which I can promote WA and help unemployed people find a new profitable life fulfilment. But I have till now not found a narrowing of my niche with which I am content. I hope to find it this week with all your help and advise till now. I like puzzles :)
Warner

Yes however narrow it down, retiree wanting second career or extra income? Just a thought.
Brenda

I believe "unemployed" is a good niche, but I agree with all the previous comments, you would need to narrow it down a little.
A good way to narrow it down further is to look at government programs that provide assistance to the unemployed who are looking to start a new business.
I was unemployed for a short time about 20 years ago in the UK. and I was able to get massive assistance from the UK government to start a new business, but first I had to choose a business (this is were you could assist) to get the benefits.
People who are looking for info about these programs will be your target audience. You could narrow it down further by choosing programs only in the Netherlands.

hope this helps

I also think you should narrow it down. I think you should go retired or unemployed and then look if you need to narrow it down further. :) Beverley

Is the narrowing down with regard to the targeted group, or also to the description of the niche?

I think that if you can keep it narrow enough of a focus, you will be fine. Good luck! I think that you will be fine once you just start listing what you want to write about....

Thanks! I take some time. I started allready (ofline) with writing about many topics. What I understood, is that the foundation is very important and the originality of the content too. So I hope in the month of May to be able to publish the site in the Dutch and the English language. May be in Dutch already in April :)

Hi - I think it's a start - but I do think you should try and narrow it down further.

Think about specifically who you want to target - there are countless millions of retired and/or unemployed people in the world - so your audience is huge - so the competition is too.

Think about targeting subsets of those people, and find some good keywords to get you started off attracting visitors.

All the best, Mark

I tried unemployment benefits online : searches: 794436 traffic 135055 and competition 333. Is this good.

Hi - 333 QSR is ok - not great - under 300 is recommended in the training, and as low as possible, the better.

Unemployment Benefits would cover people looking for what they can claim - not targeted at people who want to start up an on-line business - so your potential audience again could be huge - but what small percentage of them are actually looking to start a business, and an on-line one at that? Probably not many.

Think of yourself (if you are your target market) - what is it that attracted you to WA, and on-line marketing? You're not just retired/unemployed - there must be something more about "you" that makes you want to do this. If you can narrow it down to that, you can really connect with your potential customers. (I'm not asking you to answer these openly) - are you a single guy who is looking to do something online, are you married with loads of grandkids who come to you for advice? What do they ask you about? Is it what tablet to buy? It is how to setup a website (cause they know you know how to do it)? I'm just throwing some things in there - but I hope you understand what I'm getting at. What will help narrow down who you can connect with?

Once you get there - you can really target them - they will be the ones who will connect with you, and engage themselves with your posts and pages.

I hope this helps?

All the best, Mark

Thanks Mark. I try to find answers to the questions you suggest to me. I hope I can tell you to,orrow the results of it :) Warner

Hi Warner.

Thanks for that.

I hope you don't feel I'm against you - I'm absolutely not - it's just that having a very wide niche will make it harder for you to get visitors. If you start off really focussed, even on 10's of extremely targeted visitors each month, then you can grow from that.

If you start off targeting such a wide niche - then you may risk getting lost amongst all the others doing the same thing - and I wouldn't want you to think this is a waste of time.

There are many other members here who will give you advice too, so please take their comments on board too.

I hope I'm being constructive.

All the best Warner,

Mark

That's an excellent niche choice! I would probably change the And to an Or so that it's not exclusive to just those who are retired AND unemployed. You relate to a larger group of people by saying Or. Well done!!

Thanks! I have changed the And to Or!

Hi Warner43,

I would say that's an excellent niche to try, there are plenty of retired people around the world looking to do something more with there life, rather than sit there and rot away. It would be good for the unemployed to get there teeth into as well, Well done on the choice

I decided to choose for one of the two groups: the unemployed.
