I was signing up for an affiliate program today through the Rakuten network and as I was filling up the registration I came across this section where I had to select a Tax Form from W-8BEN, W-8EXP, W-8ECI and W-8IMY. I'm kind of confused which one to select as I don't seem to know anything about it. Can someone help me out with this one?
(I'm not a resident of U.S)

If you don't live in the US, you should complete the W-8BEN.

The W-9 is only for US residents.

You are not required to have a company name.

I live in Australia and I applied for an ABN number in my name as I don’t have a business name.

I use my name, and ABN for tax purposes and my tax file number on the forms related to outside America.

It’s a declaration on reporting. The amount of money you earned through sales is then reported to the ATO or your tax government. When you lodge your tax return you need to declare all earnings you have made and all expenses related to your earnings.

I hope this makes sense. You can pm me if it doesn’t.

All the best.

What it is Jason is that we are classified as business owner and is therefore responsible to pay our taxes so most affiliate program will demand that you are tax compliance , meaning you are registered to pay taxes in your country , so each country is different , so you will need to register to pay taxes in your country , so that's what the affiliate program is asking , hope this help
