Yes. You read that correctly.

Carson and I have for a long time really disliked the price point at Wealthy Affiliate. Anything that ends with a $7 tends to group us with all of the "products" out there and we don't want to stand side by side with ANY company within this industry.

Before you panic here, the price increase is NOT going to involve you if you are already a member and it is very nominal. We are considering moving our price from:

$47 per month

to.. ===>

$49 per month

For our premium membership. It is only a $2 increase, but it moves us away from a price point that we have always disliked and separates us from an industry with companies that we distrust and want to disassociate from even more.

We feel that $49 feels more like a "service" than a product and it is something that people would feel more comfortable (subtly) in investing in. We know our service far exceeds this in value and it is only going to get better.

By the way, the $359 yearly membership would remain unchanged along with the first month $19 offer.

This will also reflect in affiliate commissions as well, with the $49 paying $23.50 (instead of $22.50).

Would love to get everyone's feedback and perspective on this. Thanks!

Are they referring to Clickbank products when they talk about companies they distrust and what to disassociate from?

Hi, just want to confirm. Is the monthly payment $49 or $47 now for premium members?

It looks like it is going to be $49 a month. Originally, it was supposed to increase the first of April. Looks like they are still waiting???? You might still get in for $47. Either way, it is a heck of a deal!

There is a company out there who is on the border of being a SCAM who's prices , regardless what they are, always end in "7". A couple of $$ won't kill us and then WA can be considered ahead of some other scam-like operators.

This is hellish confusing.

The blog shows "Last Updated on Apr 23, 2015" yet we have comment dating back years, and at least one comment "No, this is NOT new. This post was originally written 2 years ago" .

Can we get some sanity here?

I am the culprit and new guy at WA who kicked this phantom once again out of my sheer ignorance. I am the bad guy folks :-)

I mistook this as April , 2015 update and I want to have right marketing material, hence opened the cork-screw.

I really agree with changing the price point to $49. Almost every single so called worked at home program out there has a price that ends in a $7 unless of course you try to leave the page and it says "Hey wait! Get started for half the actual amount"! Good call gentleman!

Agree with $7 psyche and support $2 increase. Due to health issues [recent heart attack and open heart surgery] I will most likely have to drop back on my Premium Membership for a few months until my Long Term Disability coverage kicks in 90 days for last day of work [31 Mar]. Even though I am currently at $47 premium price I will be more than satisfied with a charge of $49/mth when I reinstated. I know the value here. Thanks for WA in all regards. Much appreciated.

I think that the price to pay be apart of this community to learn how to correctly market online is priceless. There is no weird guru/audience or pyramid cult type vibe here because it is a paid membership site set up like a social network and as long as I implement what I learn here then the 50 dollar a month is an investment to gain millions.

Kind of related, maybe not. I had a friend sign up for the free account and he said that he would be charged at the end of his 7 day free trial period..? Is he confused about the $19 deal or has something changed?? I hope not, I had my free account for 3-4 months before I saved enough for premium.
Reply
Jay Gumbs Premium
He's confused. There is no trial period. You can have your free account for as long as you like. You don't even need to enter any credit card information to take advantage of WA so unless he took the $19 deal he's not going to be charged at all. The $19 deal buys you an entire month's membership.

I think the $49 is a good idea. Before landing here at WA, I had been looking around the internet for a legitimate way to make some extra income. I did this for about a year and found a few things that looked promising. I will only say that more than once, I took that leap of faith and purchased a product/service that resulted in a dead end. Each time I made a purchase the price always ended with the number 7. It was either $97, $67, $47, or $37. I even purchased a worthless ebook for $7. Anyone who discovers WA will see that what is offered here exceeds $49 by a mile, and at the same time sets you apart from all those others that don't even come close in comparison to Wa. Although this won't affect me because I took you up on the Black Friday Deal, you have my vote.

The $2 increase is fine, to make it more appealing I would go to $39 instead. I believe that is still enough for everyone to have some skin in their education but not too high a price to drive anyone away... my two cents anyway...
Reply
Kyle Premium
Or $9? LOL.

We will not be lowering the price, we have a yearly membership if people want to save money and that is only $359 for the year (which works out to $29 per month).

Thanks for your feedback Brian! :)

Marcus WFHW Premium
I agree, it's a smart move in terms of disassociating WA from the typical pricing structure within the IM industry.

A $2 increase for the Premium upgrade is not going to have a negative impact on conversion rates, but it's important that if/when the price change takes place, WA affiliates need to make the change within their campaigns (if they mention the Premium price)

An extra $1 per sale eh...so for those affiliates who are on target for Vegas, that's an extra $300 per year OR almost a free yearly membership!

Nice move Kyle :-)

Marcus
Reply
Kyle Premium
Absolutely Marcus and thanks for chiming in here. We are definitely going to give affiliates some notice before we make these changes and we will send out a public announcement.

And I never thought about the extra $1 in that light. That is exactly right, this will lead to a free membership if you make Vegas! :)

Yes, it sounds good to me! It does seem that I've come across quite a few ending with the number 7 in the past.

People that are just skimming instead of actually reading might just see that $47 and think it is the same old scam that they've been through before and leave the page before checking anything else out. Especially if they're already frustrated with all the scams out there and are just looking to see what it would cost them before bothering to read a whole lot and waste even more time. All they might see is this $47 price and not realize that you can join the free Starter membership first.
I also think $2 more wouldn't be that much of a difference especially with all the great info here and the awesome WA community.

Yeah, lots of scams out there that end in 7's. It has come time to part our ways even being in the same light that the scams out there are. Anything we can do to disassociate we are game for.

Totally agree with you Nathaniell, it is been something that has bothered us for quite some time and it is time I think that we need to change this. It would be a very minor change for affiliates and from our tests, it will only increase comfort level (and dissassociate us from this industry that is riddled with $7 price point scams).
Reply
scottdogg187 Premium
So when is this price change going to take effect? I personally don't see this as being a problem. I am paying yearly so this won't affect me at all. This is just another reason why everyone should take advantage of the yearly membership if they can afford it because it just makes more sense and it is highly discounted. Thanks for keeping us informed about these changes Kyle.

Don't a lot of these scam companies use 9 in their price points as well? I know the 7 is used by a lot, but I have seen 9 used as well by scams. So, for me I see no difference as far as the psychological impact. Not sure what the magic number is nowadays with people trusting online programs less and less.
Reply
Kyle Premium
Yeah, there are scams at every price, it just seems that this industry has stuck to the $7 price points and the rest of our price points end in $9, so I think it will add uniformity in this respect as well.

$19 - First month offer
$49 - Regularly Monthly Price
$359 - Yearly Price
Reply
WriterLynn Premium
Yes, it would make it more uniform for sure.
Reply
coolcity Premium
Well if you want to move away from the $7 price point you could always change it to $45 ;)

To be perfectly honest though another $2 a month - or under 6 cents a day - for the value offered by WA does not make the least bit of difference.

If anybody can think of any other program or product which offers the value that WA offers I would love to hear it! It is still the bargain of the century in my opinion.
