You have a large number of followers at WA and it's hard to keep track.

Other than checking the status of every follower one-by-one under the "blue" tab above, is there an easier way to confirm if someone stopped following you?

I think you could probably go to their profile (if you are concerned about a certain member), scroll down to their 'whole network' and look at who they are following to see if you are there.

I know that with the size of the community, I cannot give quality time to each and every follow I might receive. Like FB friends, sometimes we can get distracted by whose "liking" or, in this case, "following" us. I would rather focus on those that I can learn from or those that I can help.

Excellent advice NFoti, I second that!

Hello,
I have not had time to concern myself with whether or not someone has un-followed me. I have a hard enough time keeping up with my sites and the multitude of posts and questions here in WA.
I appreciate all of my followers and feel that if someone has un-followed it merely means that they did not find enough value in what I was providing to continue to follow. That is truly alright with me. I am not on here to provide content value for everyone but more concern myself with the value of what I can learn.
This is not to say that providing value is not an endeavor of mine. However, I know that is a personal evaluation and I cannot please everyone, so I don't take it personal.
I hope you find the answer you are seeking. Thank you for the thought provoking question.

All great points Valerie. You cannot please everyone, and no matter what one person decides to do, is alright with me, and should be okay with every member.

This is merely a curiosity question.

Did they leave WA or did they unfollow you only?
It's always good to know how the platform works, while you are taking care of more important issues.

As always, thanks for your useful comments V!

Good question. In Facebook, if someone unfriends you, you will see he is no longer your friend.

Thanks Jimmy, here it is not so easy, especially if you have many followers. You would have to do it the hard way as mentioned by Loes.

My question would be....why does it matter? Better to focus on more important issues perhaps....

Cool reply Mary-Elle, but not really the point. Perhaps you haven't seen someone here for awhile and you are curious.

Did they leave WA or did they unfollow you only?

Ummm...just a question...why does it matter? If someone decided NOT to follow you any longer...does it really matter?
May be they did it by error?
May be they want to reduce their email load? (as we all get updates on anyone we follow)
May be they stopped being a member?
But really, does it matter?
I am sure it's nothing personal.
Cheers,
Orion

My answer is: No. It doesn't matter. I've opted out of many things I don't even remember. It was getting to be so much it was becoming a drag to sift thru it all. Now the messages I still get are only what I'm really interested in. (sigh of relief)

This hasn't even happened to me yet as far as I know. Orion. It really doesn't matter in the grander scheme of things, as per your excellent points.

Sometimes we are just curious and want to know how the platform works inside-and-out. That's really all.

Your answer is "No" that there isn't an easier way, OR that it doesn't matter, G?

No, it doesn't really matter other than one may be curious whetjer someone left premium, left WA altogether, or simply unfollowed.

I like to know the "ins" and "outs" of how the platform works, I am very curious, even when I have many. many more important things to do!

DearOrionEli,

Good Day!
Thank you for asking a good question, a normal question.
No one wants to loose a member/ follower, or think about the possibility. But WA is a free choice environment, it happens, no reflexion on you or them.
We are all human. No one human can please all humans in this world. Just go 'NEXT', or go crazy trying to figure it out. You have done your best for them; that is what matters. Keep sailing, growing your own online profitable business through your wonderful personality, which will produce long-term customers who like your personality and your products or service. Does it matter if people are following or unfollow

Only if you really care, P!!

As far as I know, the only way is to compare the 2 lists of followers and people you follow, and when you are following thousands it's not doable.

That seems like too much work Loes. I like what Jay suggested, check the person's profile you question, and if hte "Follow" button shows there, they either never followed you or unfollowed you.
Reply
Loes Premium
That's not right Kayu, when the FOLLOW button is there or not, it only says if YOU are following them or not.

You can't see if they have UNFOLLOWED you or still are following you.

Oh wow, I see. Jay's wrong I suppose. It confuses me too. There has to be an easier way though I hope.

I have an idea, just ask them. PM them and ask if they stopped following you. I can't imagine anyone doing that to you, but ask anyway. They are probably just busy!!!!!

The only way to do this is manually go to someones' profile and if you see the follow button, it means they either never followed you or have unfollowed.
Reply

Thanks Jay, that makes the most sense!
Reply
BobBarr Premium
That's backwards, Jay. The Follow/Unfollow button on a member's profile reflects the state of your following them.

The Follow button being there indicates that you're not following them; the Unfollow button indicates that you are.
