Hi Kev, I'm also from the Philippines. I first joined this site in 2014, attracted by its "sales talk" of "free membership". But then, after finding out that free membership is currently not available in our country, I decided to set this site aside.

Maybe the reason why I have set this aside then, was that I wasn't ready to spend money in sites like this then.

But after sometime, after being involved in other sites with paid membership, like MLSP, EMP and EN (sites that are not for FREE), I got used to paying for my membership. Last month, after I got fed up by things I don't like with those sites, I decided to transfer here as a paid member (premium member).

Maybe, what your Filipino friend needs now is, the appreciation of what he or she will be getting from paying here. Just like what had happened to me, things today for me are much different than they were in 2014. I appreciate them more now, after a long journey online.

Hi Nympha... I'm glad to find Filipinos in here... I had to go Premium because of that sad fact that people from the Philippines can not avail of the Free Starter Membership.

It might be possible to set up a remote account in Malaysia or Indonesia nearby. It's worth experimenting.

Yes Mike, I thought about using a VPN to login from a different location, but I would do it the right way. I lived in South East Asia for 11 years and i am suprised more countries there are not banned.
I am going PM Kyle and ask what we can do.
Thanks for the suggestion. Cheers kev

It might get detected eventually.

When I was joining here, I persuaded one of my loyal customers in MLSP to join before me here, so I can join under her as my reciprocating of her loyalty to me. Sadly, the system honored my long inactive account here created in 2014 instead. The system here at WA is very keen with those details, I'm afraid gaming it won't work.

What I suggest is, encourage the new affiliate from the Philippines to go straight at premium membership, just like what I did. Tell him/her it's worth the money spent.

Thank you, I understand what you are saying. I don't like cheating the system. Unfortunately he doesn't have the money to go premium right now. I am going to ask Kyle about this when he returns from holidays. Cheers kev

I think you are talking the annual membership. Monthly is $47 per month. Some correct me if I am wrong. Cheers Kevin

dahr -- $359 is the yearly premium membership fee. The fee, when paid on a monthly basis, is either $47 or $49. (Sorry, there's a small increase in the works but I'm not sure whether it's been put into effect yet or not.)

[added]
The option to pay monthly or yearly is available to everyone, regardless of their country.

This is an eye opener! The reason does make sense, though. Kyle and Carson go to great lengths to keep this community secure.

What do you mean by secure? Secured from hackers and fraudsters? If for those reasons, I can say the Philippines and the Filipinos are much better off with our high literacy rate than our neighbors. Second fastest growing economy now, next to giant China. So, what about making WA secure with keeping Filipinos out?

It's sad because the Filipinos that I know are the happiest, kindest and most wonderful people in the world! But it appears from what I read in the policy there is a lot of hacking originating in the Philippines and certain other countries. That doesn't mean the people there are the hackers.
I don't think the intention is to keep good people out of WA, it's a policy in place because of the risk of hackers in these countries.

Hi Kari, you are right. It is unfortunate but Kyle and Carson have to protect the community.
I lived in South East Asia for 11 years and it is well know Philippines has the highest credit card fraud in the world.
I also have lot's of Filippinos friend who are great people, honest and hard working.
Cheers Kev

Clickbank used to block Philippines for years, thinking there are too many fraudsters here. But then, upon realizing that it is not actually the reality here, they have lifted the ban.

How can they be so sure that there's indeed high incidence of credit card fraud here when there are only few people holding credit cards here because our banking system is too strict when it comes to giving individuals access to credits?

In fact, with regard to giving people access to credits and credit cards, the United States is worse than the Philippines, where people are given with credit cards even if they are not that qualified. Here, you have to be in the high income class before you can have a credit card.

So, I don't understand why they have included Philippines in the list of high risk countries pertaining to credit card frauds.

If the issue is because of hacking, then I would be more willing to accept it, because there are indeed political hackers here as shown in the recent Presidential elections where both parties were involved in hacking of websites to express their sentiments. But with regard to credit card frauds in the Philippines, we are not fraudsters. In fact, I myself don't have a credit card. What I use is a debit card.

I hope people around the world would stop thinking Filipinos are credit card fraudsters as we have here a well-disciplined banking system, much more disciplined than what America has with their banking system.

I hope the admins of website, including the admin of this website, consider this. Maybe, the information they keep on believing is already outdated.

Given my high level of nationalism and patriotism, I AM A BIT HURT by this misinformation about the Philippines about credit card fraud.

This has got me emotional because this reminds me of my previous struggle with other websites shunning us out because of the same issue, that I was compelled to just use a debit card instead.

Ask any Filipino online entrepreneurs and inquire how many of us have credit cards and you'll be surprised more than 90% of us don't have any. Most of us here, use debit cards, because our banks won't give us one (credit card).

Our banks here are very strict.

Here, to be issued with credit card, you must be in a very good outstanding financial position, wealthy or near that. A sad reality here that has made Filipinos eventually forget about credit cards. "Forget about credit cards", is that all we said.

So, why place the Philippines in that map with fraudsters? It's really unfair for us here.

It is not from the people holding credit cards, it is the people hacking credit cards. I am qouting from the HSBC bank who told me this.
I agree 100% most Filippinos are decent honest people, but unfortunately the few spoil it for the marjoriy.
As I said I have lot's of Filippino friends who are great people.
Hopefully one day things will change for your country.
Thanks for your comments. Cheers Kev

You have a point. But even HSBC, they should be updated with their information. In fact, there are fraudsters in other countries, from Nigeria, and Scandinavian countries that were caught only in the Philippines. They have operated well in their respective countries, when they transferred here, they got caught.

There were even Chinese hackers who hacked a Bangladeshi central bank for several hundred million dollars, and where were they got foiled? It is only here in the Philippines. Our authorities were able to apprehend them, took the money from the Chinese hackers, and returned the funds to the original owners. That's how tough our banking and police system here nowadays.
