I have successfully signed up as an affiliate with amazon. I have followed the training on how to add a product to my website post. Everything is ok until I view the post live. When I click on the text which should take me to the amazon product page I have selected, all I get at the top of the page is this...."about:blank#blocked". Does anyone have any idea what I may have done wrong for this to occur? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Kris

Hi Diane
Thanks for the training video.
I have tried but it is still showing as a blank blocked.

What type of link are you adding? Text or Image or Text + Image?

As per the WA training I am linking to amazon page with the product I want to promote, which would be linking text on my post to text and image on the amazon page. I have just tried the method on the training video you sent me and it comes up with "Oops that page doesn't exist".

You can't link text to a Text + Image link. Did you reach the end of the video where it shows you the specific instructions for a Text + Image link?

I have done the same thing on a affiliate programme called Paid on Results, where I connect some text on my post to the web page selling the product with no problem. The customer reads the post and clicks on the text to be taken to the sellers page where they can purchase the product. I thought the Amazon affiliate programme would be the same ?

Hi - yes, that is how it would work if you are simply linking text on your post with an Amazon Text link. But if you want to use the Text + Image link, which shows a picture and the price of the product, it is different.

As I said, towards the end of that training video I sent you, there are specific instructions for a Text + Image link.

Yes that is what I tried when I got the Oops that page doesn't exist message. Maybe I should close my Amazon associates account and try to open again, I must have done something wrong at the sign up stage ?

So, when you were on the product page, did you click on the Text + Image link in the Site Stripe bar? And then copy the HTML code and add it in the Text section of your post in WordPress?

On Amazon associates I clicked on product link then selected the product I wanted to add to my site. I clicked on "get link" where I was given a link code, which I then copied. I went to my post page with the page on edit post. I highlighted the text I wanted to link to then clicked the chain link at the top of the page. I then clicked on then bent arrow sign and pasted the link code in the URL box. then clicked on "open link in new tab" and then update. I then updated the post and went onto view post. I clicked on the text hoping to link to the amazon product but I get a blank page with the text blank#blocked at the top.

Ok, look at the screenshot below. Don't click on "get link", click on the name of the product. Then you will see the page that I first sent you a screenshot of, where you click on Text + Image in the Site Stripe bar.

Then you will see the HTML code, which you copy. But don't add the code in the way you have described. You can't add it to highlighted text.

Go back to the video I sent you, and watch it right to the end. It shows you the special place that you have to copy your code to.

I have finally found away around it. I have not clicked on the GET LINK button, I clicked the little arrow after it. This gave me a shorter code which I pasted onto my text and I now have a connection to the amazon product I wish to promote. I appreciate you sticking by me and helping me to find away through. It was your ideas and encouragement that kept me pushing on to find the answer.
Many Thanks and Stay Safe
Kris

I am glad you got it resolved. Now that you have affiliate links, you need an Affiliate Disclosure, it is a legal requirement. So, here is some more training for you! I am going offline now, so if you get stuck, send me a Private Message and I will get back to you when I can.
