So I just have to say that ive been following what Kyle has laid out and it's almost been a month. I find time wherever I can. I'm learning that the process is addictive.

I'm constantly thinking about the next piece I have to tackle or what I need to tweak. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed but there's a certainty that following the steps will get me to where I want to be. I can see how many entrepreneurs get so caught up in reaching the little milestones along the way that come with building--sometimes you don't even think about the money. The building or growth becomes the mission. Best of success to all

I am a retired venture capitalist and business consultant helping my great niece get started in a business she can run from her home. I spent over 40 years in the business world starting with $250.00 from cashing in on a life insurance policy and the good fortune of having the friendship of a small country banker. I worked 7 days a week for 5 years without a day off to make my small business successful.
As time  passed I was able to grasp other business opportunities with the profits from my first enterprise and after about 15 more years passed I became a small time venture capitalist working with small enterprises that varied in size from Mom and Pop stores to 100 employee manufacturing plants. All of this took place before  Bill Gates and  internet marketing. Promotions were by newspaper , magazine, radio and television. Starting and running a business in those days without substantial capital was nearly impossible
I have spent the last year researching the pros and cons of starting and running an internet business vs a brick and mortar business.
Here are the results of my study:
1- For a brick and mortar business most of your customers  will be coming from the geographic area that your business is located in. With an internet business you have the entire world as your market..
2- Unless you have the good fortune of winning big in a lottery, inheriting a pile of money, or perhaps robbing a bank, you will have great difficulty raising enough capital to successfully launch a brick and mortar enterprise.
3- While there are those that say you can start and become successful in the internet world with little of no capital, I think that is a bit of s stretch. However, there have been many internet entrepreneurs that have been successful with a very small amount of start up capital .
I have also spent considerable time considering many different proposals on starting an internet business. At this time Wealthy Affiliate is at the top my list.

Wow! I love that you have done so much and are now "venturing" into the world of WA. I agree with you - - there are a lot of training programs out there, but this one seems like the absolute best. I am a veteran teacher, and I love how thorough these lessons are.

Thank you very much for the kind words. My approach to making a business successful was to always look for ways to simplify systems. Many of the firms that I worked with that were in trouble, simply had allowed the accumulation of redundant systems bury them. When these problems were illiminated they were on the road to recovery. As I look at the information that is available in the internet world, I keep asking myself, isn't there a way to make the process of learning this internet business less complicated.

Hey Everyone! i have to say, this community so far has been the best thing I have ever been a part of to this day.I have learned more about this in just the first few lessons that I have over the entire course of my endeavors online.

With that said, I would like to post my website up for a brief content review and see what everyone else thinks. Feedback good and bad are greatly appreciated. I want to build my website in the best way possible ad the only way that I can fix anything wrong with my website is through constructive criticism.

Also, any ideas that you believe would make my site better, are welcome as well. Thank you in advance!

I am confused (what else is new ? ? ?) Fortunately or unfortunately I have a little past experience before this course and I think it's getting in the way and I need to UNlearn what I knew. This is the area: Posts vs Pages. As I read this lesson, I'm interpreting this literally as doing new pages, yet in a review someone pointed out the reason I can't get commens is that these are pages and not posts. My question is simply this: Sould I be writing my content as POSTs and not create new pages? I am reviewing the lessons again to see if I missed this point. Than you for your time to read this and help straighten my thinking and understanding. At 79, I need all the help I can get.

Hey there, I answered this question for you in another forum, but I wanted to add something to that just in case you hadn't done it already. It's totally ok to prompt your readers to leave comments on your pages, but of course you need to turn comments on for those pages. Not sure if you had done that or not. This will help you:

It's looking pretty good!! You might want to get rid of the home menu button since your website opens straight up to your blog roll. People can click on your logo/title to get back home. that will free you up some space in that menu. You might not have gotten to this spot yet but you should reorder you menu so that about me an privacy policy is last, getting started is first etc. But looking good!

Wow everything's taking off well on your site. One thing is that your world wide income for seniors asks for comments but it's a page not a post so no one can comment on that. Going forward (and you may not have gotten there yet) create posts if you want your readers to comment. Great content and nice images :)

Sharita...Thank you. Possiblyl I'm mis-reading the text or instructions because I think they refer to making page and not a post. I am aware of the differences I'll have to go back to the bootcamp instructions and re-read.

if the are instructing us students to make pages, then someone needs to have them revise the teaching

Thanks again

You're welcome! They sometimes say pages and posts interchangeably you will eventually figure out. I was very confused about the pages structure myself and I hear they are hoping to make some changes to the training. Some things you will learn by reaching out to others and reading some of the user trainings. But you will be fine. You can leave it how it is and just take out the part that asks for comments on that page, and going forward you will know which one to use despite how they word things in the training :)

Sharita, Thanks again... I'm doing a review of the material and in one of the lessons after page creation it said to make sure you ask for comments, always reply, etc and I actually went back as they said an added that request for comments.

While I seldom feel or act my age (79) (even my wife asks me about once a week if I'm ever going to grow up), by the calendar I am an old timer and before this course have made many web pages. one as the web master for my pilot training class (see http://pilotclass62a.org) and other for myself (http://leechent.com) and I understand pages and posts. Unfortunately I skipped the step to leave everything you know at the door before entering this course and so I'm making an attempt to do everything EXACTLY as they say. I really want to make some money here as I've not worked a straight online business before and I'm retiring from my other activities and need to replace that income and this is why I have a page dedicated to seniors.

thanks again for your help, time, and patience

Hi Joe,

Great content. One suggestion on your article layout, make some separation (and I can do a better job of this myself), kind of like this article here:

htttp://waystoavoidscamsonline.com/build-a-successful-website

Bold subheadings and bullet points make reading your great content easier. Here's an example of an article of mine just for another layout perspective (my site is still on ramping, too):

I am referring to the drop down menu pages. like aren't we supposed to have the
1. about me
2. privacy policy
3. getting started
4. Content page you create
5. Content page you create
6. Content page you create
then we are supposed to start creating a drop down menu of pages within pages 4 through 6, correct?

Maybe narrow your theme down eg- the themes you have created could go into one page. Then maybe create two new pages with completely different themes. If you revise Kyles examples. It might become clearer for you. That's what I did when I got stuck. :)

the pages they suggest are simply suggestions to get you started. I personally have my basic pages as my staple information and then I categorize all my posts I write so that if a reader is looking for a specific topic they can just see all the posts related to that topic... if you really want to have drop down pages then how many you have and what content you choose for those is again up to you... This step is taking me a lot of time to do, because: first of all it takes a lot of thought and research to write the pages and try to be original and authentic. Secondly, for me, I don't have more than an hour to an hour and a half to devote on weekdays to WA. Weekends I almost never get any chance to so it is a bit slow.., but I perist!!

I joined Anthony Morrison Success Connection but after reading Kyles' website have removed all reference to it.I am happy with him in some ways but disappointed in others. He may have improved his general presence (including facebook group and support) but still is trying to 'sell' lots of programs before actually finishing the course one is on.

Overall, the site is nice, content is engaging. It looks like you still need to fill in the family travel page.
Two things I noticed -
1. Be consistent on case selection. By this I mean, if you are going to capitalize all first letters of words in a headline, then always do it. There was an instance where you would capitalize "and" and others where you did not.
2. Remove the extra menu links at the top right as they are duplicates of your existing menu.
Nice job overall. I worked graveyard shift myself, once stocking grocery shelves for seven years and recently providing tech support for online and kiosk ordering systems overseas. I too found sleep was easier in the late afternoon before getting up to go to work each shift. Best of luck and hopefully this program will enable you to work from home and enjoy family life and travel soon!

This has made me realize I was trying to add too much to each page instead of just getting something down and getting it published. I should realize site will always be a work in progress to be added to and changed as I go along, not perfect. I'll never get going if I only publish perfection.

Thinking about this made me realize I had issues to settle on my website. I opened the site manager, logged in, and clicked on the visit site option in the header, and, while looking at the site, I noticed the edit buttons beside each entry. Clicking on the one next to an entry I had not intentionally added, I discovered I could remove it. Within 5 minutes I had removed everything I wanted to be rid of from my site. Wow, Thanks!

I've read the comments here on writing your own Content/Copy and I smiled. Moving someone to action with your words alone, is probably 3/4 an Art and 1/4 a Science.

I know video rules but copywriting is a niche in itself and If you can move someone with your words alone to do something you want - you can make a boatload of money.

a.) Can I use this videos as a resource on my website without having to record a video of my own?

b.) If the answer to a.) above is yes, what is best practice for such implementation i.e has anyone in the forum done such and how? Link to a sample website will best explain the solution.

Hello Yunus,
After visiting your site, here are my suggestions:

1. Since you start with the question: "Who am I?", I think that you should begin first by introducing yourself. You can then provide a shorter excerpt on your life's journey, ending with most of the focus on what you have learned and how to proceed.

2. I would also proof read your entire blog slowly. There are many spacing, spelling, and punctuation errors. If this is really not your forte, perhaps you have a friend who may be good at this that can show you where corrections should be made.

All in all, you have the right idea. It just needs a little tweaking in my opinion.

Below is my first blog post. Let me know your thoughts and thank you so much in advance for taking the time to help.

Why You Need an Online Business

Today I had a critical retail experience. My husband and I went to Macy’s department store to buy him some Calvin Klein underwear. He is specific about the type he likes, they are always hard to find and we always go to Macy’s. His shorts can’t be all cotton, must have a touch of spandex, the waistband can’t be too wide, length must be boxer style and so on. You get my drift.

At Macy’s, we walk to the Calvin display and there are two employees essentially goofing off. They were pretending to fold and sort, when really, they were chatting about boyfriends. I owned a retail store for more than a decade so am familiar with the employee charade.

My husband and I spoke loudly about what he wanted and it was obvious we were there to buy. We were checking for sizes and opening boxes to assure correct styles were enclosed but having trouble finding his size. Just when I turned to ask the employees for help, I realized both had scurried away like rats. They were nowhere to be seen again. They did not say hello or even pretend to help. Instead they hid so as to ensure there was no danger of them making a sale.

I suddenly was filled with rage. I took out my smart phone, opened my Amazon app and did a quick search for his preferred boxer brief style.

This is what happened:

 While Macy’s had the briefs in only 2 colors, Amazon offered 17 colors to choose from
 I could not find my husband’s size at Macy’s and Amazon had his size in 17 vibrant colors
 Macy’s price was $25.00 each while Amazon’s price was just $19.80
 Macy’s had a line to purchase items – which I would have had to wait in for several minutes in the off chance I found something to buy (very inconvenient).
 On the Amazon app, we selected 4 pairs in his size, in a variety of colors and I paid – all in under 60 seconds
 We saved over $20 on our transaction buying from Amazon over Macy’s
 We both left Macy’s swearing we would never shop there again
 Amazon delivered our purchase to our home in under 24 hours via FREE Amazon Prime

I want to tell you my Macy’s experience has never happened before but I would be lying. Retail stores are a dying breed and the experience I explained is why. I find retail employees to be disinterested, rude, untrained and unhelpful. More and more customers (just like us) are choosing to go online to buy because malls are hectic and more expensive, the selection is dismal and customer service is wretched.

My point in telling you all of this is not to just keep kicking retail. What I am telling you is that there is currently a changing of the tide and I don’t want you to miss it.

Opening a business online is a necessity for anyone who wants to go into business for themselves. I buy more and more on line and I know you probably do too. Just last week news outlets announced retailers like Bebe and Forever 21 were closing hundreds of stores down. Coincidentally, Macy’s closed several hundred down just last year. Hmmm…I wonder why?

Great blog and you are so on point about retail. I used to love shopping about 10 years ago, but now I would rather buy online. Most associates are rude or in a lack of a better word brain dead. If you do find one that is willing to help you, most of the time they don't know their product line or even store policies. The only drawback I have with online purchases is you can't try it on before you buy it and for some that is hard, but returns are usually easy. Keep up the great work on your blog.

So.... I feel dumb. The site's name is actually mybusinessathome.org. Sorry about that. Now people should be able to get into it. Also, just a question, I want to basically give people ideas about setting up their own home businesses and I promote WA as well as other topics I'm interested in. Is that too much all on one site? Would it be better to divide my sites by topic? just curious, thank you so much!

that is fine, as long as the topics are fairly related or helpful to creating a business at home. You wouldn't want your whole site to be about WA and then have another site just about having the right mindset for business, or something like that.

I wouldn't suggest having a bunch of blog posts about rock climbing, or car mechanics on the site about building a home business. But maybe posts about how exercise can help you focus and be less stressed, or certain foods that will enhance your brain, etc..

Hope this helps, if you need more info, let me know. I will check out the site now

the site looks pretty good, you should add some more pictures and your wealthy affiliate banners are not clickable. You need to copy the text below the banners in WA and paste that into the "text" (top right of the writing tools) portion of where you write your posts.

On your website building post, I would suggest adding the siterubix domain name look up banner, they can check if the name they want is available and start creating it. This includes your affiliate link too, so if they sign up for WA you will get credit.

your WA review is pretty short and has no pictures.

keep working at it and following the steps here at WA, you will have a fully developed website soon!

hi guys
im on my process of writing content for my site,is it ok if i get some ideas from other similar site?i'm not literally copying stuff just getting influence. And by the way i am planning to promote a certain product and plan on signing up for their affiliate program.Do i wait for their approval for my affiliate application first before using some of the videos the product company have uploaded to youtube or is it ok to use the videos and put it in my videos category of my site without prior notice since it's their product that i will endorse anyway

Hi Joseph
The first part of your question, yes, no problem to get ideas from other websites. How could I possibly know everything i write in my posts/pages.
About the affiliate promotion with videos and so on, I think you can post before confirmation, like that the affiliate provider can already see how you want to promote his products. on the other hand, if you do not get confirmed, you have videos on your website of things you do not want to sell. I think you have to decide yourself what is better.

Hi everyone, I have written a few pages on my site, still looking to do more but I did not want to get held up to long. Are other people doing this or are they writing out all of their content before moving forward with lesson 6? Here is my website below, feel free to read through and comment. Thank you very much, and look forward to reading some of yours.

Hi everyone! I have been busy creating and filling all 6 of my pages with content. (About me, Privacy Policy, Getting Started) and my 3 themed pages. If someone wouldn't mind looking them over for review I would appreciate it. It has been hard for me to find time to sit down and write out the content for all my pages and it certainly took longer than a "day" for me as Kyle said at the beginning of this lesson... lol "Today is going to be a DAY of content..."

If you can, please check out my site for review here:

I guess unless you publish it, it won't be visible to your viewers and don't worry about the content, you could edit it any time you want even after the feedbacks, plus If you publish your content nobody could copy it for there use, no one gonna do that here at WA. But it is to protect your effort.
your page (content) link will follow after your site name, only if you publish it. Rite now its must be just visible to you as permalink underneath the title themes.

Thank you so much for the feedback!! I like how you did with the images and headlines. I like how you experimented with the design! The only thing I can give advice about is that you can change it a bit with the blog posts. Not necessarily that you need to have a blog roll, but you could instead of having blog post titles lined up, you could have them in headers. It's just to give the readers a little ''sneak peek'' at your content. If you are uncertain about what I'm saying, you can check my website again. I changed it from blog roll to ''header blog posts'' Hmmm.. also maybe you could change to another header picture, so there's not an adobestock watermark on it. Other than that, good luck and keep up with the good work! I think the website has nice potential, I could find myself reading anything fashion/health related. Good niche!

Hi! Your website is so beautiful. I really like the format. It's also a great niche as people are always looking for ways to be more 'successful' in life and that's usually how to make more money. The first post was really long (for me), however, the quotes and headlines captured my attention as I scrolled down, so that was good formatting. You may want to add some additional bold, underline, or italics in certain paragraphs where you want to grab your reader's attention. Overall, I really like the concept and your words of encouragement and success will be fun to follow.

Great looking site!

Great looking website can you tell me what Wordpress template that is? Also where do you get your photos? I have been using Pixabay and they don't seem to be as high quality. Over all you have an excellent overview and layout, the only thing I might recommend (keep in mind I'm an absolute newbie) is may integrating some hyper links into your posts. Like where you use "Wealthy Affiliate" you can make that a hyper link directly into your affiliate link. Also in your about me when you talk about seeing the getting started page, you could just hyper link that directly into the page instead of giving instruction on where to go. Again that's just my opinion and I'm no expert, I just thought it might give you a few more opportunities for referrals and easier to access content. Thanks and I'll leave a comment on your page as well, feel free to check out my pages:

Wow, I think you have it going! The content is simple and enough. Great structure and it was nice to read, you have character in your writing and I think it will be really easy for readers to connect! Good job with the content! I can see where you are coming with the images, I forgot to mention earlier. If you get pictures from Pixabay but still don't find the quality good enough, it can be a problem about resolution. I always lower it, you have the option to do so in the picture manager on WordPress.

I am writing my content right now. It has been flowing out of me, because I am telling my own story. I think its becoming a bit long but I just want to get it all out and then it will be easier to edit. It's not every day that you have the inspiration and time to write. Sometimes its so hard to even get a sentence down.

My goal right now is to sound inspirational and then I will structure the content from a business perspective.

I've done what Kyle said in finding 10 themes to write about on each of my content pages, but for the sake of keeping the readers interest, not running out of things to write about and not writing excessively long pages, I'm going to treat each topic as a post under a sub-menu within the main page when I learn how to do that in whichever future lesson teaches it.
It's all great stuff for getting your brain thinking initially and for keeping your content going later on.
I've been a bit of a 'pefectionist' with the lay out of my content which is why I've taken longer than I'd hoped to get to this point, but if I stay satisfied with my content so far then it will have saved me work which I'll only have to do later anyway.
Look forwards to staring Lesson 7 :-)
Reply
HisbelA Premium
By the way, you can add post as sub menus in Appearance, then Menus, select Top menu, and then instead of adding a page to the menu, you can add a post or a category in the same way that you add pages, just make sure that you possition it under the page you want it to appear, and slided indexed to the right so to look lie this:

Page name
Category name

Hope this helps

Hi wknudtson,

I justed wanted to say that you will get faster and faster. Its just practice makes perfect. I used to be just like you. But then what I started doing was the following which helped me speed up in writing content: -

I structured my content with individual topics I had to cover for each article, also writing a brief summary on the focus of each topic.

Then whenever I had a bit more time I would just update as much as I could using the summary notes on each topic and save and continue later.

Found this approach of structure layout and building up my content, saved me effort time by atleast 30% if not more.

Try it and let me know if it works for you.

Thanks

I've started with WA since July last year and I didn't have the discipline to continue with the bootcamp lessons.

So here I am.

My niche is book reviews and since some of the books are made into Movies and TV series, I've decided to add these two into my website. I've also included Funko Pops because it also ties in with the books, movies and tv series.

It took me quite awhile to settle into this niche and now I've done a framework to my website. Some of the contents are there others are still in progress.

Would appreciate some feedback or suggestions to the theme for books.

Hi Carl,
I just had a quick look at your site on my phone. It can be seen well, so that is a plus.
I would not call myself and affiliate expert, far from it! But from a user perpective, your narrative looks a bit too much 'on your face'. Perhaps foccusing more on your experience of WA and which is their current problem that you are trying to offer help with, might be a better approach.
Also, you mentioned some bad experiences, but did not named the bad experiences companies, therefore it is not as effective.
I started reading from the left of the screen to right opening each tab of the menu, and it somehow felt as if I have been reading the story backwards. May be consider changing the order of the menu tabs to make more sense.
Hope this helps, you are getting there, it just needs polishing a bit.

Hi everyone, I need help organizing my menu and pages. I would like some pages of my menu to be just containers for sub-pages,
and I managed to do that, but I don't want content on those pages of the menu. Instead of being just containers of pages they are pages themselves. I'm I explaining myself? :)
For example:
There is a page on my menu called Getting Started, and inside there is a page Build a Website. Right now you can clic the Getting Started page and you find yourself on an empty page. I want to make Getting started not clickable.
Anyway you can have a look for yourself.

Please if you have any feedback also on the structure and content

I am not quite sure about how to make it not clickable, but if what you want is a page that would show all your post related to built a website, you could name a category named 'getting started' and put it on the menu instead of the current empty page ( you do that on Dashboard - Appearance - Menus), then when you create a post called 'built a website', make sure that you tick the category 'getting started' as the one it belongs to ( you can have a post belonging to more than one category by the way).
Does that aproach solves your problem?
Otherwise you would need to write something generic related to what is needed to get started on the empty page.

Hi James,

Great main page! I'd click to find out more for sure! Are you a copywriter?

I thought it had a friend to friend tone like we were sitting on bar stools together and having a conversation.

It's early, but I didn't find any typos, lol.

The only thing niggling at me a little is if there is a skeptical person reading it, you don't mention that this way to make money is about doing it with something they care about/have a passion for (long, run-on sentence, lol).
It would take just a sentence or two, I think.

Awesome job! That's like a $1200 sales page for a copywriter. If you aren't one, you should check into it :) With your conversational style, you could make a killin'. Sorry, didn't mean to have it sound like a sales pitch. You're just a wicked good writer :)

Perfect header pic, too :)

Truly and Sincerely,
Melissa

It helps having my JOURNAL near my bedside table as I can plan my and get ideas for my next blog.. Once you discipline the mind it makes that groove to sit and write your articles and it does not become a chore any longer but something you look forward to do.

I got like trouble with enabling comments on pages in my theme as well so I really am wondering to copy all my pages into posts, except terms and about me like I did with the other course... and just roll with that instead. Now that was a lot of writing and typing. And I did it with two fingers, l.o.l NO' I really had fun with putting everything together and I see what I need to do different already but, at least I know just how to do that. I've made manny changes and I must admit, I'm a bit shy of getting comment's yet because, I myself am not quite satisfied with it because, I have reviewed other websites within the W.A comments, and there are some awesome websites out there. It's great to be able to view other W.A members material to have a competitive in site to go by. Love ya!

Yeah I totally get you about the amount of writing that took to complete - but I've done it and it feels great.

Good on you for putting it all together AND having fun at the same time - I think if you're having fun you're half way there.

All the best with the rest of your build,

Was just wondering if this was the kind of thing Kyle was referring to in the Bootcamp Course 1 Lesson 6 section.

This is what I have interpreted as a theme page

Thank you Merlin! :)

I see, time management might be something you should focus on, so you become more productive in less time.

But look, i noticed your english is really good, so I don't think you should have problems writing.

One tip I can give you that i use is that once you have your post subject, you think (and write!) about 4 or 5 topics on how your post direction should go. With that by your side, its much easier to get the whole thing done. Then, when you finished the "skeleton", you review the whole thing, add images and correct possible mistakes. :)

You're always welcome, Davi! :)

Yes, time management could be an issue. I'm going to follow your tips since I realized I'm always caring a lot about the design instead of finishing the writing first! Since this lead to major issues due to lack of a golden thread I really have to change this behavior.

Thank you so much!!

Hullo justaddthat:) Love the name..probably your name is the answer to you question..just add hugs when needed, guidance when needed, coffee when needed. treat this like a dance and respond spontaneously to each issue as it arises. This business reminds me of raising children on the land. The cows are calling, the fence s down, the weeds are growing. The children need schooling, feeding, hugging and dare i say it smacking. Some how it all comes together to the most wonderful conclusion.

Thank you, Eagleon. Love your name as well. My real name is Roxana, and almost everyone I know calls me Rocky. It's just my nickname I've had my entire life. I guess my concern is am I doing too much screen time on here and not enough family time. Your words do touch me, and they give me hope, so I am very thankful for your response. Maybe instead of time management, it's patience that I need. I'll have to pray and reflect on that some. I just don't want to miss a moment chasing a dream to be with my kids only to miss the most special moments of their life: their childhood. And your words humble me, giving me the courage to stay still for a brief moment in time and think about priorities in a new way. It is what it is. I like that kind of philosophy, I think. I appreciate your response.

Hi Rocky,
yes, work here can be time-consuming indeed. Between completing lessons, responding to emails, and also responding to followers in your network, it can be overwhelming. My advice is to concentrate on creating your website as it is going to be your source of income. Following along with the lesson but do not rush. Take the time to understand each lesson fully. Go back in the lessons if you feel you have to. Not rushing is the key to your success. Respond to email and your followers when you can. Everyone understands that we all have responsibilities other than our work here at WA. Set your limit on how much time you can invest here and try to stick to it as best as you can. This will free up your time to attend to your other duties. I hope this has been helpful to you.

Wow! I read your "Getting Started" page. I love your approach. You hit negatives on the head. You use verbiage to get the reader engaged. You make subliminal suggestions, and you worked to gain the readers trust, right off the bat. This shows you know your customer and you have sales experience. I love it. You just need to activate the comments section on your page. After you troubleshoot, if you find that all the appropriate sections suggest that the comment section should be visual and it is not. It could be the theme you have chosen. Before you select that as the culprit, please investigate until there is no other option.

I just took a quick look at your site. It mostly looks good, but I noticed a few things I would have changed.
- Replace the title "Just another WordPress site" with a title relevant to your website
- Rename "About me page" and "Privacy policy page" to "About me" and "Privacy policy"
- Also the "heading" on the left of each page steals almost half the page width. That might just be the theme being designed that way, and maybe it will be filled with links to subpages as you proceed.

Just my 2 cents, good job so far and good luck as you continue!

I have a question and hope you guys can help..
When I started the affiliate boot camp and set up my "about me" and "privacy policy" pages followed by the 3 additional theme pages to frame out the content for the site, I was under the impression that these 3 themes were going to be categories for future posts as opposed to standalone written pages. I'm now here at the point where the task is to write out the content for each theme page and I'm just a little confused. Is it going to basically act as both a written standalone page AND a category where future posts will be written?

Thanks in advance!
Reply
onmyownterms Premium
You can either use it as a category for blog posts OR as a page, but not both. Every time you write content, you choose either a post or a page - categories are groups of posts, whereas pages tend to be standalone, static information. Hope this helps.
Reply
GrantSudduth Premium
Hey Eric! These will be standalone pages that are shown on your menu at the top of your home page. Your posts will be seperate and will show on your blog roll or however you set yours up. Moving forward, you may find where you may be adding on to the theme pages in the form of a drop down menu. For example, at some point you'll be doing reviews. So, it would work to have a menu titled "Reviews" with a drop down menu listing each review you have and these can be clicked on and taken to that page. Hope I'm making sense and hope this helps.
Reply
ericcantu Premium
Ok. I guess i'm confused because one of the tasks before asked to come up with 10 different possible posts we could create for each theme. Now it's tasking me to write a single page for the theme and I'm thinking they were better served as categories instead of standalone pages. If they're standalone pages then what was the point of having 10 ideas or posts for each one?
Reply
ericcantu Premium
So I guess the earlier task of writing down 10 possible post ideas for each theme was so that the blog roll where these posts would be found will have a good flow that goes hand in hand with the standalone theme pages in the menu.
Reply
GrantSudduth Premium
Correct. It's good to insert links in your posts to other pages on your website which are relevant to your post. Google likes this a lot and helps your rank.
Reply
mtmmoyer29 Premium
You can always insert links to your pages within your blog roll for the 10 possible post ideas. They can also go under your three new pages asked to create as a drop down menu discussing further topics related to that specific page. Hope this helps.

I am still extremely confused.. Ericcantu I have read and re-read your questions and the communities answers and I still don't get it. I was under the impression that we were to create 3 theme PAGES, which are standalone.
Then Kyle had us come up with 10 ideas for each. You're saying that those ideas were for the blog roll, but how does that work? Are you saying that the 10 ideas for the 3 themes were MEANT to be POSTS? Because wouldn't that mean that the 3 theme PAGES should've been post categories???

ALSO the fact that on Kyles example page to show how he added content to a page, but the page he added content to was originally up at the top during his video walk through and now it's on the side, so is it still a page??

Thanks for any input/ clarification anyone can offer!

Wow! I loved your website. I usually don't get on a website and want to stay. I got valuable information. I navigated very easily. I could have felt bombarded with information, but the layout made it easy on the eyes and easier to accept. This was a PRO versus a CON because I sold myself meaning I found what was interesting to me (by reading the titles) and I instantly got more information after one click. This website is a great example why your blog roll should be your homepage. I was always against it because of the clutter. However, this is by far the most organized clutter I've ever since.

P.S. I picked up a few online tools I didn't know existed. I've never rated a website AA++, but you earn it...

Hi Alex. Love your content. Great start! I noticed a few typos, but nothing too big. I read Shelly150's comment about personalizing and I think you could change the "feel" of your site simply by using a different theme. The only thing I can see is that you need to read it yourself and check your words. You have words like thin instead of things. The very first word I think should be something different.

So, read, make corrections and it looks great.

Well, I have my 30 topical ideas for my three main pages, but I really want to write long form content of between 2000 and 3000 words.

That works out to be about 90 000 words... Luckily I write fast, but it's still going to take me a while to create all that content.

Any ideas on how I can go about all this?
Reply
OddHelgeH Premium
Here's what to do:
1. Don't ask that question
2. Just start in one end and don't get disappointed if you don't get to your end goal at once. Google love upgrades of articles, so just make sure you start and keep going.
3. Don't stop when you feel for it, stop when the alarm clock rings. Continue when you're next appointment with yourself appears.
4. Keep smiling, you're doing well.
5. When you've written all the 30 topics, go over them again and make them longer.

Some day, my friend, you will have those 90 000 words, but not today. Create your plan on WHEN and for how long you are going to work, and you'll be fine.

Good luck on your project!

I think I'm going to go the opposite direction and just start each post out by shooting for 500 words or more.

I was just watching a video by Jay and that's what he goes for now. I'm sure I'll get at least 1,000 words minimally but it sure takes the pressure off when trying to come up with content.

For the comments:
You need to go to your dashboard and go to your menu (left side of your screen)
Select Pages, then select All pages: you''ll see all the pages you have on your website
Then put your mouse on the name of the page you want comments: you will see edit, quick edit, trash and view.
To activate the the comments: click on the quick edit. You will see a box Allow Comments. Cick on it. then click update

For the pages you want to delete:
Do the same exercise as above but instead on clicking on the quick edit, you have to click on Trash.

OK. Pages and Posts have a "discussion" section that says: allow comments. Make sure that you have that checked off to allow. If you don't see the discussion section .... then you might need to "show" it by going to the top right side and looking for "screen options" click that it will open up a couple of things and make sure 'discussion' have a check mark. Now scroll back down under the area where you write you content and you should see a discuss section. Make sure you have "allow comments" checked off.

My website looks like it does mostly because of the theme I'm using. This theme has (2) menu areas. Primary and Top. So... I created (2) menus in appearance-> menu and then I assigned one menu for the top, and one menu for the primary, in the menu location.

one trick I learned is if you like a website... you can usually scroll to the bottom and see what the theme is called. Then use that theme and see if you like it. I am currently using "Minimize" by Slocum Studio

HEALTH
Let’s get and stay healthy, young, old, male, female,” health for life”.
Health content for theme pages:
When we think of health, I think of many different factors that influence health and how we ourselves consider what health really is. First we must be in agreement what symptoms are affecting us and then decide for ourselves or have a doctor tell us the type of treatment that is necessary and if you or another person will be responsible for your care. Then we must ascertain is it a physical, mental, or spiritual health concern? For instance, we must consider male/female, young/old, and the importance of health to each as we are all created differently. If we think about it we are actually the same, either male/female, young/old all created virtually in the same way with a few differences such as invtro fertilization or for instance a three person pregnancy just to name a few. Yes, we all have blood, skin, eyes, ears, etc. as you get my point, we are all different, but yet so close to being the same, with the same parts, but again different.

A couple of things

some pictures will definitely help,

do you have your pages in the correct order it looks like the home page is a test page

You need to put your spin on the Wealthy Affiliate concept, this site needs to be owned by you so have some original content from you

Hi Richard,

Thanks your review and comments....

Yes , I will include my image and some content in my home page as my updates.

I wrote the contents with my own experience which I had with WA. But this may match with some other website existing or upcoming. Or even outcome of reading training and similar website contents. I took care that I didn't copied from any other websites...However, I will try to spin the contents as possible.

Regards,
Raghu

Writer's block at the moment. Long, mentally draining week at work and outside of it...but I have a couple of pages with a little content, and a couple more pages that I will create content for when I can think again. Here is my site as it stands right now...I am going to try that "feedback" page as well...sorry if that's the same thing as listing it here. :)

www.incomeforintroverts.net

Peace...

OH and another question I have--I originally purchased "incomeforintroverts.net" because .com was not available (though it was expired). I have since purchased .com and pointed it to .net. Does it matter which one I list, as far as ranking goes (in the future)? I am fine with it always landing on .net....

Thank you!

I doesn't matter whether net, or com. The three biggest are com, net and org. You are good.
The post on your website, you might want to do something about the text, it looks kind of cut off. Perhaps setting it to center will help.

Cheers,

-Danyel

Thank you, Danyel...the text looked fine until I added a background image, which was yesterday. I noticed that about the margin as well; it seems they (WordPress) should account for that and pad them in...I was wondering if there was a way for me to adjust that. But I like your idea; I will change it to centered and see if that helps.

Thanks!

Hey Amber,
I tried your Theme on one of my test pages. It seems that, when adding the background picture, the container for the text does not adjust. It looked silly on my page :(
The developer of the Theme may have missed something within the CSS.

Cheers,

-Danyel

I was thinking that the "who, what, where, when and why" principles may be helpful. In other words, who is it for, what is it, where can they get it, when can they get it and why do they want it. I know this is more than 3 themes but it seemed to work for me. Another way of thinking about it is 3 categories of things like "How to", "Tools involved", "News about". Just a few thoughts. Let me know what you guys think.

Cheers,

Peter

Hello All- This is a lengthy lesson, but I have filled in all of my content. Check out the making of my wealthy affiliate website, and let me know what you think. I haven't made it to lessons where I'm taught to post links into my pages. That's why you see me leaving notes to myself where I will set up links. Needless to say please ignore lol

Here is my website so far- http://eliminatescamswithjoe.com/

This looks like an interesting start to build on. I would certainly suggest an image or two to brighten up the site and break up the text. Your English is good and you express your ideas well.

My feedback is to shorten your paragraphs and break up your text with headlines. I do a rule of about 2-3 sentences per paragraph and 2-3 paragraphs per headline. This makes it much easier to read and for speed readers to get to the part they are really wanting to read about.

Hi all, can anyone point me in the direction of adding multiple comments boxes (name - email - comments) and how to not publish the email. I have a comments box but on one of my pages I would like to add this one. I can´t work out how to do it.

The format of comment boxes is standardized through WordPress, and is not customizable without adding some kind of plug-in or custom theme.

Awesome site, for some reason your site appears to have more content than what is there, which is a good thing. Keep up the good work. PS where did you get the content for the Number 1 recommendation?

I´ve written my three pages and added them. In truth they are more like introductions to the themes but I think it´s a decent start. I need to add images as they look a bit text heavy at the moment but that will be a job for tomorrow.

Hope you´re all doing well

If you really want to have a better logo, or header for your site you can get one for $5 at http://fiverr.com. That's where I plan on getting myself.

I like the topics you've chosen for your posts, they will definitely get your audience attention. I have more posts than I do that's for sure. I still have a lot of writing to do.

If you can take the time to also check out my site that would be great, and please leave a comment.

Hey everyone! Are we suppose to be writing out all 30 pages before we move on to the next step? This will take forever lol.

Anyway, I've gotten started. I have my pages and two posts done so far. If anyone has time. A comment on the posts would be awesome. I'll do the same for you!

Idk why it doesn't show a space for a comment on the homepage like that. I guess you have to go to the Online Business Topics menu in the top right of the site and do it from there.

But thank you for the input.

I just left a comment on your site. I like how simple it is. Your style doesn't push away the lazy readers by the way you got straight to the point.

Nice work!
