Your Golden Ticket for Success

I watched America's Got Talent past episodes and was completely blown away by the level of talent displayed by children. There were 10-year-old kids performing songs in voices that were reminiscent of the vocals of Whitney Houston, Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, and other legends in the music industry. I was stunned.

These children at first seemed out of their comfort zones. They were nervous and shy about performing on this nationally viewed television.

Then something miraculous happened, they transitioned into a super star. You could see the transition right in front of your eyes. It was like a miracle. Once they started singing, or playing their instruments, they became a media sensation. They belted out their chosen songs or instrumentals with the finesse, pitch and the talent of people three times their age with years of experience,

Many of these soon to be superstars complained of being bullied in school. Their associates at school and on the playground called them various names because they were different. These bullies taunted these children because they were in fact different.

Even so, these children believed in themselves enough to walk that lonely road of being different, going onstage to allow judgment and scrutiny from others. They were willing to allow the world to see, appreciate or discredit their differences in a whole new light.

These talented bullied children were rewarded with the Golden Ticket. This meant they could go directly to the “Live Show” and on to living their dreams.

As online marketers, we face some of the same challenges. To draft articles and advertise ourselves on the Internet, we must allow our vulnerabilities to show. We expose ourselves to the criticism of our families who may believe that the whole “internet thing” is a farce. Still, we push forward.

We expose our dreams, our feelings on the World-Wide-Web hoping to find that special tribe of folks that will understand our hopes and dreams for our future. We look for those who read our message and respond to it. Any mistakes we make can be viewed by the world.

The choices we make can be scrutinized and criticized. We must theorize what the public wants or needs and try to give that to them as we struggle to draft that next article.

We must show our willingness to fail by trying to win at this game of internet marketing. We try to emulate the best of what we learn while allowing the world to see our uniqueness so we can maintain who we are.

We show our vulnerabilities by posting our thoughts, comments, and prejudices to the world. Whether they accept us or not we continue day after day.
