Hi,

I want to add Adsense advertisements on my site and the page says:
Copy and paste the AdSense code in between the tags of your site

Thank you

Good Morning Yvonne,

In the beginning I gave them carte blanche and it was a mess. I then decided to do it manually. I now have them in the sidebar and footer only, and it looks much better.

Greetings from the south of Spain,

Taetske

U seem to already been accepted by AdSense. Is that right?

Well, use a good plugin AdInserter) like Abie & Trish have suggested, to help u add the codes.

Hey Yvonne,

You may find the following tutorials very helpful. Hope this helps you.

ou can use the Ad Inserter plugin, as you do not want to edit your themes files directly as you will lose your changes when the theme updates or if you change your theme.

Has anyone here used Gourmet Ads before? What is your experience with them?

As of yet, I have not used Gourmet ads. But it does sound unique and if you can get into this niche it could prove to be beneficial for someone.

Hi,

When I click on the star of an article that I want to bookmark, the option to 'Add Tag' does not appear.

Yvonne

You need to click the blurred star and add tag there.
See the screen shot.

Hope that helps.

I have some old posts that are not ranked from page 1 to 10 in Google. Are there any consequences if I change the keyword and redirect the post to a new URL? Or is there a bett

There are two scenarios to consider here:

1) If you change the keyword you want to target to rank but you do not change the slug (url) of the post, no redirection required but may be just ask G to crawl that specific post manually.

2) If you change keyword and you change the title as well as the slug, then you need to redirect the post to the new slug as otherwise you would encounter 404 error.

In either case, it's a good idea to reconstruct the post and not just change keyword.

:)
Joe

Wouldn't it be better to erase the old post and publish a new one with contents from the old post with update and changes?

You can try that too. My concern is if G comes and crawls your site, the old post might return 404 error unless it is redirected to the new post.

:)
Joe

I did consider this too. I'm not sure if redirecting an old post to a new URL is better or deleting the old post and making a new one with the revamped old post.

For the second option (deleting old post), all the comments would be gone. But I guess that wouldn't matter if it's not ranking huh.

My personal perspective:
Since the post has got comments which is good for search engine, I would rather reconstruct the post - so I don't have to create a new post and I don't have to worry to redirect the post.

Doing this might give it another chance to get ranked.

Thanks for asking the question, I was thinking about the same thing.

Thanks Robert for the answer.

If/When you do update a post you should also reschedule.
(Change the old publish date to the present one)

Robert, if my old post has already been indexed and I update it with a new title or made some modification to the title to reflect the new keywords I would like to use. Do I need to tell Google to index it again?

I intend to do a lot of update on my old posts, as I will add images and all kind of things. In some cases, I will also change my keywords, so my title. For now, I have 70% of my posts being indexed by Google.

As a beginner, I focus on writing contents, but when I reach a certain amount of posts, I have to start updating them and apply a proper SEO, I'm still learning, Lol. For the moment, I don't really care about ranking as I don't have enough contents.

I also heard that we shouldn't publish more than 2 posts every day, what do you think?

Thank you for your reply, Robert, really appreciate.

Hello Calvin
You do realize that your Title becomes your Permalink and that is what the search engines see and ranks according to the content of that URL.

I think before you take this any further you read this blog of mine and also click on the link to another of my blogs when you have read this one. I don't believe there is any limit to how much content you post each and every day.

As far as I'm concerned the more content the better your chances of attaining a good rank.

Robert

Here is a web page with a lot of Google Ranking Factors.
Not all of them are ones that I would personally pay heed to

https://backlinko.com/google-ranking-factors

There is no harm in updating old posts with better keywords.
You can also link that old post to a more recent one or one with more relevant information.
Its standard practice to link to other posts as they are internal links and you should do it as often as you can as its best practice for the search engines.

If I use photos from other bloggers and provide a link to their blogs in my post, is it still a must to get their written consent?

Has anyone experience with this? Plea

Thanks for your replies.

Yes.
To avoid trouble you should always ask for permission.
Or buy stock photos, which I have started doing.

I am such a budget kind of girl and pixabay have ton of free images. I refuse to pay if I can. ;-))

Someone that I asked permission to use a photo from her blog just replied to me via Facebook messenger that she's fine with it. Should I also request that she reply 'formally' through email? Or should I just take a screenshot of the FB reply?

Yes. Take a screenshot. Then you should be fine. :)

Depends on the niche.
The niche I'm in it is very difficult to find good free images for.

Me too. It's either free photos or photos that are approved for sharing by other bloggers.

All mine are free images from pixabay here and in my websites. You will soon find out if they are copyrighted and now even google have stopped you from taking screen shots on your phone. You are normally told if you can take them as free. ;-))
