Manchester

What an incredible story of how a modern city found its soul and really helped.

Strangers got stuck in and helped.

Taxi companies ordered their drivers to pick up anybody who needed to get home or to a hospital, free.

Hotels offered free rooms.

The stories are unexpectedly heart-warming.

It is amazing and heartwarming how people can band together in times of great distress and the best of humanity can be seen to conqueror actions of the worst of humanity.

Blessings to all.

Sharon

Thanks Sharon. In times like these when people seem to be becoming more selfish, it is really good to know how many selfless people there are still around.

yes, it is vital to hear the good side and how it is bigger...

Good to hear this :)

Thank You Mary

A very warm and touching article! Too often it is easy to be overwhelmed by the negativity that takes place in the world. We have to realize that really it is only a very small percentage of people in the world who, because they lack such regard for human life, appear to only want to hurt other innocent people in the most destructive way possible.

There is a LOT of good in this world, as evidenced by the reaction of those in the immediate area within Manchester and the love, compassion, and outpouring of concern coming from decent human beings worldwide.

Also, don't forget, (something that I saw on CNN) the citizens of Manchester, England who offered food and water to the first-responders at the place where the tragedy originated, those workers probably at the site for long hours.

Absolutely Jeffrey. So many people forgetting to be selfish and considering other's needs.
You are right it is so often the minority who create this violence, but there is a feel-good spirit to this that will not be put down or intimidated, long may it last.

There was also the taxis that offered free rides home or to the hospital- image that!

You will find people, of all faiths and circumstances coming together to help in situations like this.

This will only continue until people of all faiths and situations come together and end it or God does.

Thanks Mickey. There is a feeling of a shift in focus to something more positive and more humane. Wonderful.

The human heart had such an enormous capacity for love.

It is hard to understand what has hardened those that seek to hurt others.

Thanks Susan. With you on that.

Bless the British. The same spirit was shown in the Dunkirk evacuation. Many citizens used private boats to go over and help evacuate the troops!

Thanks Michael. I was concerned that we had lost that spirit. It is indeed alive and well in Manchester.

That's the mancunian spirit we are a friendly bunch

Thanks Anthony. It is quite remarkable.

Absolutely heart warming to repeat Loes words. This is an example of atrocity nurtured by wrong beliefs. We can only be grateful that 'Forever and ever evil and darkness will always rescind before Light.'

Thank you Lanu. Yes - I hope that the good that has come out of it will be what people remember.

I get the shivers of it:) Heartwarming indeed! Thanks for sharing

Thanks Loes.

Thank you for your concern. As somebody who was born and raised in Manchester and lives only a few miles outside the city centre, it still never ceases to amaze me how resilient Manchester people are when our city comes under attack.
My own niece was at that concert and was fortunate enough to get out but I don't think she'll forget the horror of what she witnessed.
But yes, countless acts of selfless heroism from people looking for their own children stopping to attend the dyeing and injured, to homeless people living on the streets running into the blast zone to drag people out.
As one homeless man said, I may be homeless but I'm not heartless.
And that says it all...
Thank you for all the concern from around the world.
Paul

I'm glad to hear your niece is ok. The whole thing is just beyond words, both for the horror of it and for the stories of heroism.

Thanks Paul. It has certainly set a standard to live up to. long may it survive and flourish.

Thanks Craig. Like you, I am lost for words, I just know that I have a deep feeling of both loss and yet pride in Mancunians.
