Good question. I'll say that if you reach 50-100 visitors a day, it's a good indication it's time to start. Another important component is understanding quality visitors. You will want to try and target keywords that are specific to a certain problem/topic and/or review products to do that.

This is a good reminder that promoting affiliate links comes after your site is up and running and has consistent traffic.
I have found myself, more than once, being declined for joining an affiliate network, and more often than not, it is because of traffic.
As a newbie to building out your website and online business, it is very easy to get uneasy and defeated when the affiliate marketing part is not picking up.
